Students write English themes, study for social studies tests, do research for a speech. They may retire to the quiet of their rooms at home, compete with the television set, or seek out refuge with others at the library. They may be found rehearsing for a dramatic presentation or playing in the dance band. They have class meetings to' make plans for the Sound-Off Rally and the Grecian Festival. They make-up and practice skits, prepare props, devise yells, and compose songs. They plan dances and the Juniors work especially hard on the Senior Ball to reciprocate for the Junior Prom. , Thus the school day lingers on for the underclassmen also, and the night finds them involved in studies and extracurricular ac- tivities. iflihr W lassm page 58

The Highlights of evening for Acade- mics: Teachers, Administrators and the staff relaxg they attend parties, dine out, visit friends, attend a play or the opera. They may take classes or teach them, grade papers, make lesson plans, devise assignments, prepare lectures. Some at-' tend board meetings, while others study the stock exchange. They play bridge andf, attend sporting events. Some pursue hobbies--coin or rock collecting, pottery making, silk screening, dog raising. One may build a stereo set, or remodel a home, or make furniture, or construct a telescope. All participate in school af- fairs--by directing a play, supervising a dance, sponsoring a club. Most attend Back-to-School Night, Career Night, and College Night, the play and the musical... So the school day lingers Onaffer the last bell rings and the night finds the staff Working or pursuing pleasure dur- ing their out of school hours. They the Spartigras and plan for Festival, the Picnic, the Senior are honored by the Junior Class at the Senior and by the Ad- ministration and Faculty at Senior Recognition Night. And finally they will graduate on an evening when the troubles and problems of four years will be forgotten and -only the sweet memories will remain. They will leave Castro Valley with mixed feelings of sadness and joy and as they move away into the night they will be filled with new hopes and will begin to attend to new business in a different world.
