We thank you for the many times you have told us of the need to prepare ourselves for tomorrow. Now tomorrow has become today. We feel that we are more prepared to meet the many challenges of this new decade since having you as our principal throughout our high school years. Our stay has not only been happy years, but also, most profit- able years. THE YEAR 1960-61 MARKS THE COMPLETION OP THE CASTLEWOOD HIGH SCHOOL THE The completion of your fine auditorium, a modern athletic field, and the addition of six classrooms and cafeteria at the elementary building, brings to you and your community the most adequate and modern school facili- ties to be found anywhere in the western part of Virginia. The fine cooperation of you and your parents has made this possible, and we are all very proud of this achieve- ment. We must remember, however, that this building is only a means to an end. It is the young people within the walls of the build- ing that make the school. This school was erected to make it possible for you to de- velope the abilities which you have, to the fullest extent. I feel sure you have taken full advantage of the opportunities which have been available to you, and it is my fervent hope that all the boys and girls of the Castle- wood community will, in years to come, take full advantage of the increased opportunities which they have. I Miss Linda Amburgey, the sec- retary of Castlewood High, has been with us only this year. She is a 1959 graduate. She performs her many tasks in such a pleasing manner and wears a smile for everyone. “Smile and the world smiles with you ; weep and you weep alone.” We, the class of 1961, wish to express our thanks and gratitude to Mr. Graybeal, our assis- tant principal, for his guidance, friendship, and service. Mr. Graybeal has a guiding influence over the interest of the stu- dents at C.H.S. He does much to inspire us to take advantage of an ed- ucation. He keeps us in- formed about the scho- larships that are being offered by different col- leges and organizations.
