The primary aim of the Castlewood Chapter of the Future Farmers of Amer- ica is the development of agricultural leadership, cooperation, and citizenship in the Castlewood community. There are 50 members of the chap- ter. Each is actively enrolled in voca- tional agriculture and carries farm pro- jects on his home farm. Some of the activities of the chapter are: sponsoring a livestock judging team and sending dele- gates to the state F.F.A. convention in Blacksburg each summer and entering farm products in fairs.

The Castlewood High School Band members were among the 55 bands attending the South- eastern Band Festival at Bristol. They won a plaque for second division rating. They gave a Christmas concert jointly with the choir. The band marched at Abingdon for the Tobacco Fes- tival, at St. Paul in the Christmas parade, and at Dante, Va. They entertained at the Russell County Fair in Lebanon and also played for the Castlewood student body during American Edu- cation Week.
