This second type of building, which at first glance may appear less spectacular than the first, is the type carried on by a teacher with students in a classroom. During his eleven years of teaching at Castlemont, Mr. James E. Snyder carried on such building. Up until his untimely death in January of this year, Pop Snyder, as he was called by Castlemont students and faculty members alike, poured into willing students his great talent for creating an appreciation and understanding of the beauty of expression to be found in vocal music. One day, even the new Castlemont campus buildings will fall, and perhaps our school will be rebuilt once again. But that which Pop Snyder constructed in the hearts and minds of his students and everyone that knew him cannot be destfoyed. Like a phoenix, it will endure to be reborn again and again from generation to generation. For these reasons, we, the members of the yearbook staff, dedicate the 1961 Falcon to the memory of Mr. James E. Pop Snyder.
