The Castleberry School District had its beginning in the year 1898. It was a one-room frame building known as Marine School No. 3. In 1902, because of an increase in scholastics, another room was added to the one-room structure. This school, located where the present Castleberry Elementary now stands, was known as the Rosen Heights School No. 2 and served the community until the year 1919. To replace this two-room frame structure, a three-room red brick building was constructed on the one-ocre tract at a cost of $6,000. This building marked the real beginning of what was known as the Castleberry School since it was this structure that was named in honor of Uncle Zack and Aunt Fannie Castleberry who furnished water from their well for school use. In May, 1958 the first group of students became graduates of Castleberry High School. These first graduates posed a picture of enthusiosm, cooperation, school spirit and pride that has become a tradition at Castleberry. This year marks the thirtieth anniversary of the founding of that tradition. It is with great pride that we look into our past and with great hope that we look to the future of Castleberry High School. 4
