FOR US IT’S twMtsG b Lo I cdLp C x j 1U dJZjZ UA - 4+ - (4u The 1987-88 school year was a year which began with a change. Not just the usual changes of a few yew teachers, a coat of paint here and there, o: the new freshman coming in, but a very special change. Our theme this year was selected to present thp fact that this school year was the first full yea in the history of Castleberry to have air conditioning throughout the entire school. For the past 30 years we have not had air conditioning and have been on an early schedule for the first two weeks of school to beat the heat, but thi year we are KEEPING COOL. Not only is the air conditioning helping the students and the faculty, but it also symbolizes the personality of our school fron HOT items to COOL fods this year. Castleberry led the way in all sports and activities. Throughout the school year we left our competitors FROZEN solid a we passed by them in all areas of athletics. The band, choir, and the other school activities were also HOTTER than ever. The air conditioning is something that we have been waiting for and we will want to remember that all the hot days are finally over for the Lions There will never be another year like this year, and we have tried to capture all the special moments of your high school days. Here at Castleberry W' have always been COOL but this year more than ever FOR US IT’S TVCr llrtatr I 2

The Castleberry School District had its beginning in the year 1898. It was a one-room frame building known as Marine School No. 3. In 1902, because of an increase in scholastics, another room was added to the one-room structure. This school, located where the present Castleberry Elementary now stands, was known as the Rosen Heights School No. 2 and served the community until the year 1919. To replace this two-room frame structure, a three-room red brick building was constructed on the one-ocre tract at a cost of $6,000. This building marked the real beginning of what was known as the Castleberry School since it was this structure that was named in honor of Uncle Zack and Aunt Fannie Castleberry who furnished water from their well for school use. In May, 1958 the first group of students became graduates of Castleberry High School. These first graduates posed a picture of enthusiosm, cooperation, school spirit and pride that has become a tradition at Castleberry. This year marks the thirtieth anniversary of the founding of that tradition. It is with great pride that we look into our past and with great hope that we look to the future of Castleberry High School. 4
