Slashing end runs followed by reverses paved our way to five victories, one tie, and two defeats. In the mud of Nov. 11 the Rockets outplayed out- charged and completely outdid the Woodland Beavers who were tied for first place The game ended in a tie but we won a moral victory Ending the season by defeating the Cathlamet Mules on our field by the score of 39 6 was wonderful and the referees said we showed the best sportsman ship of any other team in the Trico League No penal ties were tooted on us dur ng thls contest Bill Green s rampageous charges through the line ga ned him an All Conference first team backfield berth Jim Quick who was outstanding in the line won an All Conference first team guard position White Howard and Dunbar played inspirational ball Bruce Howard was elected Honorary Captain while Bill Green was xoted Inspirational Football Award Winner for the 1949 football season S C O R E S Rock Rock Rock Rock Rock Rock Rock Rock Castle Castle Castle Castle Castle Castle Castlt Castle Ridgef eld Stex enson La Center Evergreen Washougal Kalama VVoodland Cathlamet 'gaedezflafl Capitalizing on a fast break offense, the Rockets won second place in the Northern Division and defeated Stevenson in the Trico League playoffs at Vancouver, by the score of 55-32, to earn the third place Trico League position in the District Tournament at Cen- tralia.
