viii six-S D E ECI-l ll-ll-IE importance of training in public speech, the use of the spoken word, admits of no argument. Not satisfied with the training in oral English which is a part of every course in that department, the school offers opportunity for both class worlc and private lessons to those interested. There are few expression teachers in the country better qualified than Mrs. Rousseau, who has had broad experience both as teacher and performer. One of the most talented readers in the South, she frequently entertains the cadets. Capt. Ralph Donnell coaches the debate teams. Interest in this line of worlc is growing by leaps and bounds. Our teams won the Cumberland University Debate Tournament and met some ten or a dozen schools in dual debates. The first Mid-South Debate Tournament was held at Castle Heights this spring. We believe strongly in debating and consider it one of the most helpful activities in which a boy can take part. AND MUSIC MRS.
