f , - 'f ff51e ::vn:5,? --'- ag-ff,-f Whenever the word education IS used most people get a mind picture ot a school of some type Schools colleges and universities do play a very important part m the education al process but at best they cannot supply all ot one s education To be truly educated a per son must keep on learning Too many gra duates be they from high school or college teel that they have been educated and can throw their books away never to study again In this complex civilization which sur rounds us today nothing is certain except change Changes come with such rapidity vantage ot every opportunity to increase one s knowledge conceming many phases ot lite To put it bluntly one s education is never com pleted It rnust be a continuing process iust as lite is a continuing thing Let s always keep in mind however the tact that it is a tounda t1on only and must be added to tor the rest ot lite EDMUND BERNDT I I 4604114 It has been the aim ot schools throughout their history to teach citizens common learn- ings so that each might have the necessary mental and physical qualifications to live en- ioyably and happily with fellow human beings. lt is still the aim ot elementary education to teach that tund ot knowledge. The secondary school continues this study turther and then specializes tor various branches ot economic lite.
