Twenty-four JUNE SENIOR DIARY Dear Diary, Today, Feb. 3, 1948 shall always be remem- bered. It is the day I became a Senior. March 2, 1948. Diary, can you imagine Cass having a dance fioor, luke box, and coke machine? Well, that's what the class politicians offered gullible 4. Cass Seniors today. An Aero student finally flew off with the title of President. March 25, 1948. I was on Television, I really was. Where? Oh! At school. We had a play and it was Televised by some radio station. March 26, 1948. The doors of Cass closed today, for Easter Vacation. Yep! School is out and it seems terrif. April 5, 1948, Back to school, we go, with and special dates. We're back. Of course it will take us some time to get back into the swing of things again, put I think we'll live through it. It sure will seem good to get some sleep in Economics again. April 22, 1948. We all are feeling sore today and no wonder, the way we all acted at the Senior Splash Party held in the school pool. While riding the largest shoulders I have ever seen, I was thrown and ducked so much, I can still taste the chlorine that was in the pool. Water fights were to be seen everywhere and big brutes were throwing poor, little, defenseless girls into the cold water. Honestly, everyone had a super time and we're all looking for- ward to another Splash Party. I'b still gob wader in mine ears, and a tode in my node. What fun! May 11, 1948. My heart sank. I was scared toothless, when that teacher looked at me and frowned. Would she keep me off the Grad. list? Oh! please give me that D .... My card .... I'm still on the list and I could kiss her. May 19, 1948. Today, Dear Diary, the Senior Class had its Skip Day. The day was warm and with everyone togged in ieans and shirts, we left school at 11:15 for Belle Isle. Amid baseballs, cameras, dripping seniors and oodles of hot dogs, we romped till the sun would let us play no more. And so with wet clothes and mustard covered faces, we left Belle Isle filled with food and memories and used up film. Gee, school tomorrow. June 16, 1948. The Senior Swingout was held today in the Auditorium. It seemed to be different somehow from the rest. Perhaps it was the fact that it was me who was walking down the aisle, instead of the past senior classes. It was beautiful. Everyone stood up as we, the graduating class of June, 1948, paraded to our seats. Envious eyes were upon us all, as scholarships and honors were given out and the student body applauded. This Senior Swingout is one that will always be remembered by the whole class. June 23, 1948. Tonight, Diary Dear, after three long years of work, I was graduated from the best high school in the world. My days at Cass will hold a special place in my heart, for it was there, that I changed from a giddy, schoolgirl into a woman l?J. Although scared out of my wits, while walking across the stage and receiving my long-awaited Diploma, l couldn't help feeling sure of myself. For what my teachers, at Cass, have taught me has given me a feeling of security in the future. The honor of walking across the stage of Cass Technical High School comes only once in a lifetime to the lucky ones that survived the long and hard years. This honor has iust come to me and it will be the proudest moment I shall ever remember. Commencement is over, and among Congratulations and Goodbyes to teachers, I pause to give thanks, that I have been so fortunate to have gone to the high school of my choice, Cass Tech. 2 ,.,,ggt,'::ff v':uV'-L Mu Nlinv I-'KI' June 25, 1948. The Fountain Ballroom was the setting for the most thrilling night of my life. Cinderella could have felt no different than I, when I saw myself as I had never seen myself before. The Masonic Temple was like a palace ballroom. We danced as if enchanted till at I-ast, as all good things do, the prom ended, and tears were everywhere as the lovely strains of Auld Lang Syne filled the huge room. The dreaded moment was here, the moment for saying goodbyes that might last forever. The Prom is over and tomorrow, tonight will be but a memory. The story of a senior and her last contacts with Cass. The strain of tests and the fun of splash parties still ringing in my ears, I say goodbye to Cass, and to all those I loved dearly there, I say thank you for making my stay at Cass a pleasant and interesting one. Goodnight, Dear Diary. rvqVMI.-V1 .AMMVA I MM Hy. n, WWW ?oN 571595 new
