ef? JAN. SENIOR DIARY Dear Diary, The wonderful, exciting summer is gone and school is to open today. Sept. 3, 1947. Just think, Diary, I'm a full fledged senior now. Sept. 4, 1947. Oh! what a program. Who'd a thought I had so many subjects left to take. Sept., 1947. The class politicians went to work today. You should have heard those speeches. Oct. 8, 1947. Skip Day. Although it's not my first, this one was different, because it was my own. What if I were to get sick on all those Hot Dogs, Playing Football, or from going swimming with my clothes on, what would Mom or Mr. Branton say? Oct. 31, 1947. The Honor students were honored in the Outlook. Oh Well! We can't all have Brains or Brown Noses, can we? Nov. 14, 1947. The long awaited night has come. My date arrived, the flowers were beautiful, and one could have easily mistaken the gym for a grand Ballroom. With soft lights and dreamy music, we danced 'till we could dance no more. An all around perfect evening, made this Pigskin Prom an event I shall always remember. Dec. 18, 1947. The Music Dept. put on their annual Christmas Concert tonight. Outside, the snow was deep and snowballs were flying. I always did wont a clean, snow-washed, face anyhow. Dec. 19, 1947. The doors of Cass closed to- - day amid Christmas Carols and Mistletoe. The lunch- Q -uw sfkffsf n room rang with laughter and singing voices. Cassites surely do know how to put Mistletoe to good advan- tage. One dirties more hankies that way. llf you know what I mean, Diary.J Jan. 5, 1948. With new watches and diamond rings and flashy neckties, Cass returned to school. The holidays were filled with dates, parties, weiner roasts, and Ice-skating, and now weary students return for the last weeks of our stay at Cass, and to rest up from an eventful two weeks' vacation. Jan. 21, 1948. This is the beginning of OUR week-our last week at Cass. How sad it seems to be. Is it actually happening or am I dreaming? You know, Dear Diary, just between you and I, I'm going to miss Cass. Jan. 23, 1948. Final Card Marking-l held my breath so much today it seems funny to breathe naturally again. Who said teachers liked Seniors? Oh Dear! Will I make it or Not? that is the question? Jan. 28, 1948. I made it. I'm so happy I could cry. I can still hear them calling my name . . . suddenly my stomach becomes a bowl of butterflies and my tongue feels tied with a dozen heavy chains. What were those speeches about? What am I supposed to do now? Oh yes! walk slowly and keep calm. I must remember to keep calm .... And then I'm walking down to my seat. Had I tripped?, Had I stuttered?, my mind was a blank. And now, I'm holding my Diploma. How beautiful, 12 years of everything important in my life is in this one little piece of paper. This is a scrapbook of memories on a single sheet. Oh! happy, wonderful Commencement. Am I getting sentimental or am I really beginning to miss Cass already? Jan. 29, 1948. A wonderful date, beautiful flowers, new formal, and the car for the evening all helped in making this o magic night I'lI never forget. We arrived at the Masonic Temple and were greeted by all the kids. Oh-Diary! it was wonderful. The lights were low, the music soft, and the night was chilly, but nice, and all the world seemed perfect. We danced 'till morn in a kind of dream world which was to be the conclusion of my 120 weeks of hard labor at Cass, Jeeps, Diary, when at morn they played Auld Lang Syne, something funny happened, my stomach quivered and my eyes were blurred with tears. This wonder- ful divine, SENIOR PROM was the end of my terrific, exciting, and thrilling life at Cass, and the setting for Goodbyes to school friends I had gotten to know so well. A phase of my life is gone and so, with tears amid lonesomeness in my heart, I say goodbye to Cass, and with Confidence in the future, I go forward. But, I shall never forget this magic night of nights and those friends I found at the High School of my choice. Good Night, Dear, Dear Diary
