The Student Council is the governing body of Cass. lt is made up of representatives of various Clubs, Classes, and other organizations which represent the maiority of the student body. Meeting weekly, this group tries to work out the problems of the school in general. At the present time they are working for a bigger and better Open House, for a permanent athletic field, and for ways to promote better sportsmanship between schools. The Council and the school feels the students should have more social activities, and that they should be allowed to have more say in school plans. The Council is doing everything in its power to bring the wants of the student body to the attention of the faculty, and to the administration. Mr. Franklin Frey, the council sponsor, has done a remarkable job in guiding the council to a successful Open House, launched in May, 1948. The large attendance and numerous compliments received by the students and the faculty, prove that student conducted proiects can be successful. At this open house, the students have a chance to show their parents and friends what they do and learn in school. Open House gives the parent a chance to confer with the faculty stat? with regard Ato problems which are of interest to both parent and teacher. The Pigskin Prom, also inaugurated iust a few years ago, was another highly acclaimed activity of the past year. The highlight of the Prom is the awarding of letters to deserving members of our football team. Last year the student body began inquiring about our request for a permanent athletic field. This has since been the chief work of the council and they are still working hard to attain the goal which many others have strived to reach. Many proiects, which seemingly were impossible, have been accomplished through the time and efforts of the Student Council.
