Choirs Sing Out Dancing the ole soft shoe, Susie Walker and Rick Richey step out. Lewis Cass' Choral Department had a very busy year consisting of concerts and the all-school musical, Oliver. The 7th and 8th grade choirs, the high school choir and the swing choir performed a fall concert in November, the annual Christmas concert with the bands and a Gay 90's Review in the early spring. The swing choir got a new start this year with the purchase of new outfits and the beginnings of a new trend in swing choir performance at Lewis Cass. The group was greatly in demand performing for some 20 school and community events. Many choral students attended the district solo-ensemble contest at Taylor and were awarded 6321 first ratings and 372, second ratings for their efforts. Sometimes the smallest parts are the most important as Toni Dowden quickly learns. Choir 141

Auto Mechanics, Machine Shop, Building Trades and Agriculture were a part of this program. In these classes, students built a house, Worked on cars and farmed. Business-minded students took Business Lab courses and were taught secretarial and office duties. Their activities included filing, dictation, typing and duplicating. Vocational training paid off for seniors enrolled in Work Experience. They used their knowledge to obtain a job and they Worked half days.
