Busy Bicentennial Year Interestes of the students in the Social Studies department during the Bicentennial year were on how American systems operate. To satisfy these interests the Government class took a trip to the Indianapolis Police Department, while the Economics class went to Chicago, Illinois to study Y' . various institutions and their Social Studies classes offered operations. Independent Study was a new activity for the 75-76 school year. Students qualifying for this course were juniors and seniors. IS students were required to obtain a faculty this year at Lewis Cass were World History, U.S. History, Economics, Government, American Political Behavior, Current Events, Sociology, Social Problems, Geography, Psychology and Contemporary Reading in sponsor to guide them in the American History. New to the study of their chosen topic for one or two semesters. Social Studies area this year was Anthropology. PM ,ff Taking notes is a vital part of any field trip as Mr. Conrad displays. 132 Social Studies Discussing a history assignment with Mrs. Chapman and Mrs. Guy, Tony Logan leads the conversaiton.

Classes Challenge Minds Math and Science were two very challenging subjects needed for college. One year of Algebra and one year of Science were needed to enter most colleges. Math offered many different courses to students. Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, Basic Math and General Math were a part of this program. These math classes helped students cope With today's complicated society. Science also had a variety of classes. Students were given a chance to study ISCS, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Physics and Current Issues in Science. Current Issues in Science was a new class in which students were required to write an essay each classtime on a controversial issue.
