MICHIGAN Foreword January 8, 1968, the students moved from the time worn edifice that housed Cass City High School for forty one yeats into a sparkling modern building designed to accommodate the ever increasing number of students. The reactions vary, but in most students a subtle change is almost visible--a new energy, a new quest for knowledge in a more academic atmosphere. Carl Sandburg once said, It is the men and women, boys and girls so poured in and out all day that give a building a soul of dreams and thoughts and memories.” The many good memories were not left in the old halls, for these memories are the spirit of Cass City. Thoughts of basketball games and candy sales and names written on the wall in the ticket booth will stay with us when we think of Cass City High School. We will also have memories of a new environment—memories of pride as we heard visiting students say what a good school Cass City is. The purpose of this book is to help us to remember the years and to show the Spirit of Cass City H.S. in our year of change. Farewell . . . ... echoes the sentiment of the Juniors as they poured their hearts into preparation of the annual Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom. The Banquet was presented May 18 in the new Cass City High School Cafeteria. Speeches were given by both the Junior and Senior Class Presidents and Love to You . . . and songs were sung by a number of members from the Junior Class. Amid the palms and exotic Hawaiian setting, the students danced to the music of the Kings Four' at the first prom to be given in the new cafetorium. Seniors Participate in Annual Swingout Parade Our senior year is one that we will always remember. Our final year was unique because we were the first seniors to graduate from the new Cass City High School. First semester went by slowly as we waited for the big move. As the second semester ap- proached the tempo changed and we really started the new year with a bang! Imagine moving books, papers, and desks for five classes. Then multiply this by 489 students. You get a rough idea of the time and effort involved in moving a school. Even we seniors felt like freshmen again. Twirp Week was the first big event of this year. Rally and John were crowned King and Queen. Everything went smoothly. Before we knew it, Twirp week had come and gone and it was prom time. The Banquet was held a week before the Prom and both had a Hawaiian theme. Now it is graduation time ... this Thursday is Swingout. We all have a funny feeling about this, our last week of school ... it’s hard to believe it is all over. Radio, T. V., and conversation give testimony to this fact. Sports not only build bodies, but they also build minds, personalities, and worthwhile characteristics. Homecoming ’67 . . and it rained, and it rained, and it rained.” These words accurately describe Homecoming '67. The stands, which were relatively full considering the conditions, were a collage of umbrellas and rain bonnets. The parade was postponed until the following week. The Senior float Happiness is a Victory was caught in the rain, and Snoopy was never quite the same. Kathy Mark was crowned 1967 Homecoming Queen by Diane Freiburger, Queen of 1966. The coronation was held in the gym, and of- ficially started the dance. Everyone was a little damp, but no one noticed it, because we were too busy listening to the Sounz. It was one of the last high school dances to be held in the old gym, and we really went out with a bang!
