The four years passed rapidly, and now we are ready to go out and face the world. While Freshmen, we were under the guidance of Mr. Miller and Mr. Weatherhead. Our class was led by President, Janet McConkey; Vice-President, Alex Lopez; Secretary, Ron Parrott; and Treasurer, Kathy Bartle. We recall the good times we had at our get-acquainted party, bake sale and disc-jockey dances. That year passed rapidly and all too soon we were Sophomores. During our Sophomore year we were headed by President, Delbert Law; Vice-President, Ron Burdon; Secretary, Clotile Thompson; and Treasurer, John Starmann. Our sponsors were Mr. Straley, and Mr. Weatherhead. Among our projects to raise money that year were a bake sale and dances. Our Junior year is one which will always stand out in our minds. We were a busy class putting on the Junior Play, The Atomic Blonde, which we all en- joyed. Also working on the magazine sales and the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom, Aloha Nui Loha, at which the Paul Hocking Orchestra played. During our Junior year we were under the leadership of President, Bill Ross; Vice- President, Ann Johnson; Secretary, Gerald Smith; and Treasurer, Kathy Bartle. Our sponsors were Miss Moore and Mr. Cardew. Now, as our final year draws to a close we can always remember how Mr. Miller, Mr. Whitely and Mr. Stickle were always available for us to fall back on in time of necessity. Our President was Don Orban; Vice-President, John Starmann; Secretary, Emily Parmer; and Treasurer, Delbert Law. We can re- call selling mums at the Homecoming game, the Christmas Prom, Snowflake Fantasy, the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom, Journey to the Stars, which we will always remember because it was our last. Most of all we remember the boat trip to Chicago on the S.S. South American and our stay in Chicago. Also, recalling Swing-out, the long march on Baccalaureate night, and at long last. Graduation. The hardest part of all was seeing our friends for what might be the last time. We, the class of 1960, can never forget these times. Junior Senior Banquet Prom Scene of banquet hall before guests arrived. Marilyn Guinther presented a The Continentals, M. solo on the program. McCormick, W. Finkbetner. P. Holmberg. Larry Retherford presented a solo on the program. Gordon Goodall, Junior President, wel- comes Seniors. Don Orban, Senior President, spoke for Seniors. Mr. Miller spoke for the faculty. Douglas Avery ‘The Lord’s Prayer” - Malotte Class Prophecy It is the summer of 1970 and we have just returned from a long vacation during which we attempted to see all of our classmates with whom we graduated ten years ago. For sentimental reasons we started at our home town. We went to our high school to see the changes made in the last ten years. We found Joyce Behr as a secretary for the new super- intendent, Tom Herron. Joyce told us about the new staff members and included were Roy Tuckey, the coach and Marge Dillman, Kathy Bartle, Pat Harmon, and Nancy Brown as teach- ers. We looked at the Cass City Chronicle published by Marvin Smith and read the feature article written by Connie Muntz. We also read that Cass City's new mayor, Barry Hedley is trying to annex Caro. For lunch we went to a restaurant owned by Judy Zawilinski. We talked with one of the waitresses, Marylin Peters and she told us that June Follman is a receptionist at the Hills and Dales Hospital. Gerold Polk is one of the doctors and Emily Parmer, Geraldine Sbresny, and Ruth Karr are some of the nurses. The hospital cook is Wanda Spencer. From the restaurant we went to Walbros, and the new additions to the office staff were Barbara Mika, Barbara Wurm, Ruth McKee and Mary Williams. We had to leave Cass City and at the Cass City Airport we bought our tickets from Mary Ann Weipert. We were surprised to see our pilot Norman DesJardins and his stewardess was Clotile Thompson. While on the plane we read the Saturday Evening Post and the cover had been designed by Paula Schweigert. There was an interesting article by Dr. John Starmann and a cartoon column by Linda Benson. We enjoyed our fast trip and soon landed at the New York Airport. We called for a taxi and recognized the operator's voice to be Ellen McCarthy's. When our taxi came we were again surprised to see Wesley Ball as the driver. He told us that Gerald Smith was working for the United Nations and that Carol Wylston was on the office staff. After resting at our hotel, owned by Harlen Tuckey, we went to Madison Square Garden to see the wrestling matches. The main event featured Powerful-Punch Ron Parrott vs. Dynamite Jack O'Dell. The fight was so vicious that we soon left. We went to quieter sur- roundings. The Don Orban Variety Show. On his guest list were many former Cass City students. They included the Hi-Lights (Carol Gelatt, Carol Fuester, and Janice Dorman), Douglas Avery, Joyce Guild, and the comedy team of Priscilla Mathews and Ron Burdon. After spending a week in New York it was time to go on to Washington, and so for a change we decided to go by train. We heard a familiar voice from the conductor and looked up to see Gary Czekai asking for our tickets. At noon we were served a delicious meal prepared by Janet Hull. After arriving in the Nation's Capital, we were taken on a tour of the city by Ruth Meredith. At the White House we saw John Aldrich, who is now on the Atomic Energy Commission. His chief assistant was Joe Hielig. We peeked into the President's office and saw Margaret Matusak taking shorthand. Margaret invited us in for coffee and told us that Alex Lopez is an Ambassador to Latin America and everyone is very much impressed with him. Nona Cooper is a General in the WAF's and Audrey Bader is a waitress in the White House Cafeteria. We had lunch with two Michigan Senators, Delbert Law and Bill Ross. Sitting at a corner table were two F.B.I. agents, Ron Pateria and Archie Rayl. Leaving Washington we rented a car from Arnold Erla's Ford Rental Service. We stayed overnight at the Gage Brothers Motel (Bill and Jerry) in Richmond, Virginia. The next morn- ing before continuing on our trip we had our hair set at Thresa McCormick's Beauty Salon, next door to her husband's motel. After being on the road for a few hours we had breakfast at Margaret Kozan's Eat Shop. Arriving in Miami we went to the Miami National Bank to cash our travelers checks. Dan Jacoby was the manager and two of the tellers were Mary Skripy and Pat Harbec. On the sidewalk we met Grant Zinnecker and stopped for a chat. Grant told us he owned a large supermarket and working for him as check-outs were Marylin Linderman and Marion Neiman. Mike Wald was his butcher. In the afternoon we went to a dress shop operated by Sandra Wallace. One of her models was Marylin Wallace. That same evening we went to a drive-in movie and the manager was Hugh Milligan. The next day we took a tour of Cape Canaveral. Our very-well-informed guide was Nancy Spencer. Dick Hunt a retired Navy Admiral was also in the group of tourists. We saw Grant Hutchinson and he said he was a mechanic and was working on a missile. We moved on to the Leslie Severence Cotton Plantation in rural Montgomery, Alabama. In Texas we stopped at the King-Sowden Ranch owned by Glen King and David Sowden. Their neighbor was Jim Wilson who had a horse ranch. Jerry Szermi was his helper. We took a Greyhound bus from Houston, Texas to Phoenix, Arizona. Our bus driver was Don Wildman. In rural Phoenix we stayed overnight with Judy O'Dell. She is married now and she and her husband are missionaries to the Navajo Indians. We boarded a plane at Phoenix for Los Angeles and our stewardess was Lois Goodall. The plane developed engine trouble so the mechanic, Dick Kloc, had to repair it. It was fixed in a jiffy and we were in Los Angeles by noon. We had our dinner at the Hotel Roosevelt and our waitress was Oma Holik. She told us that Janet McConkey was a social worker for the Los Angeles Welfare Department. We read in the paper that oil was discovered in Alaska, and an engineer named Tom Maleck was called to supervise the drilling. Also in Alaska were David McGrath, and Ken Mathews. They are stationed at Fairbanks with the Army. We started back from California and on the expressway we saw Mary Ann Agar driving a convertible. We learned later that she is a test driver for chevy. When we got to Chicago we visited Dorothy Anthes at her Beauty Shop and one of her cus- tomers was Pat Hofmeister. Pat is a R.N. at one of the Chicago hospitals. She also told us that Janis Knight is a medical secretary at the same hospital. From Chicago we traveled by bus to Cleveland where we visited Ruth Gaffney. She is married and working as a seamstress in an exclusive dress shop. Over the news report we learned that LaVern Peters and Gary Jackson had purchased the Indianapolis Race Track. We arrived back in Michigan and went directly to Lansing. We saw Paul Beckett and it seems he has changed a little. He is now a Michigan State Trooper; giving tickets instead of receiving them. At the Capitol building we visited with Betty Miklovich. She is State representative, Louie Horner's secretary. We went on to Detroit and at the Ford Motor Corporation we visited Ann Johnson who is a legal secretary for Henry Ford, Jr. At the Henry Ford Hospital we talked to a nurse, Cleopha Pelton, now Mrs. Bob Harbec, and she told us that Bob is an accountant with the Detroit branch of the revenue department. Edna Karporvich is also in Detroit, she is a social worker for a Catholic girls' school. We bought a new car in Detroit and enjoyed a short trip from Detroit to Cass City. On the way home we stopped at Hemans to visit Phyllis Dodge, now Mrs. Larry Sadler, at their farm. On a few miles we stopped at the Jerry Cleland mink farm for a visit. Arriving in Cass City, Bonnie had developed a toothache so she went to Dr. Ernest Teller to have it filled. We each went to our parents' homes for a well deserved rest. We were very much sur- prised to have received several post cards from classmates we were not able to visit on our extensive trip. Ann McGrath wrote us from Germany where she is living with her army hus- band. Margaret Schad is a missionary in Africa, and Ron Smith is working for the Missile Plant in Monroe, Michigan. Sailor Mike Hnatuik is stationed in Japan and he has just been named most popular fellow by the Waves. in Our vacation is over and now it's back to work. Bonnie is a secretary at Dow Chemical Midland and I go back to my job as court-recorder at the District Court in Bay City.
