, • • ; •• ; • CTo reword Memories are a priceless thing that each person cherishes within himself. How we preserve these memories is our own individual business. We, the annual staff, feel that perhaps this Perannos of 1958 will help in cherishing some of the fond memories that we so often recall in looking back on our high school days. All too soon we graduate and go out into the world seeking our fortunes and never think back on the past. These times are the happiest times of our lives, even if we do not realize it. Take time out from your busy lives and glance back on the past and see if you don't recall some of your fondest memories in the Perannos of 1958. If we can bring the past back for just a little while then perhaps we can feel that our efforts were all worth-while. Your co-editors ®« „ vclt cat ton We, the members of the Senior class of 1958, in recogni- tion of many achievements, some great, and some even greater, believe in giving praise where praise is due. From those in the band department to one with so great a number of tedious responsibilities we hereby humbly dedicate this annual as a minute momento of our undying and unending thanks to you, our band director, Mr. Ronald Phillips. 2 MR. Every- one rises as the Honorable Willis Campbell enters the room. Court is nowin session. This case is important for it will decide whether or not the Class of '58 has accomplished much in the past four years. Our first witness is Mr. Lee, our Freshman class sponsor. He acts very nervous but finally calms down enough to state the following facts. The Freshman class was led O by Clarke Cummings, President. He had Jim Johnson, Vice-President, and Mike Fritz, Secretary and Treasurer as helpers. The class had bake sales, a box social, a Halloween party, and a bam dance at Ed McConkey's to close up that year. Our next witness appears to be a lot calmer. Lynn Albee is sworn in. He re- minds us that our class sold name labels, had bake sales, dances, and as we did the year before ended the year with a barn dance. His accomplices were Bob Walpole, Vice- President; Tom Hulien, Secretary and Mike Fritz, Treasurer. At this time we were fairly well up in the money. As the next witness is being called up there is quite a cheer from the boys for the witness is very well-known to them as he is their shop teacher, Mr. Cardew. He tells the judge and jury that Mrs. MacRae was our play director. Our play, Shy Guy , was a lot of fun and the kids enjoyed doing it. This class was led by Janice Pine. She was assisted by Tom Hulien, Vice- President; Joyce Keller, Secretary and Treasurer, Mike Fritz. Our Junior and Senior Banquet was a real success. We had the Velvetones play. For once a class came out ahead instead of going back. The theme was Evening in Paris . Everyone is just sitting back remembering the prom, in fact, even the judge. Finally he remembers he's in court and calls for order again. % We had magazine sales and the persons who sold the most would receive prizes. Glynn Parrott and Lynn Albee received those prizes. o Our very last witness walks with dignity, Jack Laurie takes the chair. The things he states are not so very old to us. We remember them fairly well. He pled with the jury, telling them of all our candy and bake sales to make last minute money. He tells them of our Junior and Senior Banquet and prom called Sayonara , one which the Seniors will always remember since it was our last. Bob Walpole, Vice-President; Joyce Keller, Secretary and Ed McConkey, Treasurer were his helpers. The jury, composed of teachers and school student council, leaves the room but « In a few minutes return. Everyone from the Class of ‘58 is tense. Miss Hall reads the verdict. Seniors of '58, the decision we have made is as follows: We all agree that you have accomplished very much. For your penalty you are to take a cruise around the (3reat Lakes and spend two days in Chicago. Plus, you will receive a diploma on Commencement night. As Egyptian representatives, Cass City was very active both in committees and General Assembly in this 12th session, giving the Arab point of view on such issues as the Cyprus Issue and the question of Algeria. The Model United Nations Assembly follows the same procedure and deals with the same problems as the United Nations Assembly, dividing into committees to discuss and recommend proposals to be voted on in the General Assembly. For five months our delegates prepared for the Assembly, studying the background of the Middle East, Egypt in particular. International affairs in general, and issues of the 12th 53 in detail. Maxine Root, George McKee Each year one week is set aside as Twirp Week when the girls have the privilege of asking the boys for dates and in other ways the regular rules of procedure are reversed. The girls are expected to pay for all entertainment and refreshments. The week comes to an end with a dance when a girl and boy are crowned as Queen of Hearts and King of Hearts. On the afternoon of the last day of the week this year a court trial was held as an assembly at which Wayne Wilson served as judge and a number of senior boys served as jurors and tried a number of girls from each class for various violations of the rules set up for the week. Most were found guilty and were assessed fines which go to help the Student Council to raise funds for their work. KNEELING: Leftside: M. Gauer. STANDING: E. Gurdon, S. MacLachlan, Mr. Erickson, J.
