G ass Qrophecy T1me 1966 Place Here and There and Everywhere Mr Sr Mrs Lynwood Lapeer fthe former Jeanette Neall who operates a Creamery declded to take a tr1p through the forty elght states as thelr busmess was thr1v1ng They bought a car from the F1nkbe1ner Auto Sales frlled lt w1th gas from Lon Decker s Mob1le Service and declded to take a lunch along They stocked up on prov1s1ons at Patterson s Grocery and Ell1s Bottllng Works where Sue Bell and Mary Lou Wald were fa1thful workers Whlle pass1ng through the outsklrts of the c1ty they found Mrs Ioyce Stevens and Mrs Ioyce KMorelll Neal hanging out their weekly wash Upon enterlng the rural area they came upon an enormous farm and were surprlsed to f1nd lt was Jomtly owned by Wayne Whlttaker and Alv1n McKee 'Iravelmg was fast and they arr1ved rn Pontlac Just m tlme for the evening meal Wa1t1ng for a traffrc l1ght they saw Mr 61 Mrs Eugene Cleland returnlng home from a day s work at h1s photo graphy shop Gettlng 1nto the heart of the c1ty they stopped at a hotel clalmed to be the largest and f1nest 1n the state whlch was owned and operated by Gerrold Perry There they stayed for the n1ght They declded to eat breakfast on the way and stopped at Anker s Grill Ieanette pressured Lynwood 1nto gomg to Detrolt to the fashlonable Salon of Mane Gurdon where only the f1nest fashlons are sold Whlle Jeanette shopped Lynwood sauntered 1nto McConkey s Men s Wear Leavmg there they contlnued on to the Champlon s Sea Foods where they found Sam as a very able proprletor They were Just rn tlme for the floor show and were happy to come across such fam llar faces as Reva Hutch1nson's and Grace Kanaby s who were at that t1me two of the best known Before ret1r1ng they happened to read the headllnes of the newspaper Ron Behr Becomes The Second Babe Ruth Up brlght and early the next day they headed westward Arr1v1ng at Indlanapolls they thought they would llke to see the famous speedway The top drrvers were D1ck Dunn I1m Connolly Ierry Gllllland and Ilm Gulsbert Passlng through Iowa they were amazed at the s1ze of the ranches They were more amazed to fmd that they were owned by our better dalrymen Allen Hartwlck and Dlck Carpenter Operat1ng a motel where they stopped for the evenlng was Pat Czapla They had qulte a chat and found that the former Marge Follman was the mother of twlns She also Sald that Don Nye would teach them to fly rn forty f1ve mlnutes at the nearby alrport Headmg south they reached MISSOUT1 and passlng by Fort Leonard Wood they saw as the gu ards Jerry Hurshburger and Reglno Lopez Upon reachmg Texas they heard of the Rocklng Y Ranch run by the horse lover Ianlce Youngs At the resort where they spent the n1ght Iudy Coykendall was the desk clerk and because Iean nette had a headache she was sent to the nurse of the resort who was Mary Donnelly Northward to Colorado to see the Boulder Dam where Iack Clara was the head englneer on a re pa1r job In Denver they declded to have a n1ght on the town One of the hlgh spots was the Galety Th eater owned by 11m McCarthy and featurmg Colleen McNamara a dancer of some repute At Salt Lake City Utah Patsy McConnell and Marlene Rlcketts were in charge of a buslness school where Dorthea TerBush was the head of the shorthand department Movlng to Ca11fOI'l'11a they were surprlsed at the number of classmates they saw P1ck1ng up a newspaper they saw that Alv1e Evans was top scorer on the U C L A Football team 1 l 0 I . .
