- FOREWORD We, the Seniors of 52,.like Indians of bygone days, wish to remember faces and deeds. Of course we have no tepees on which to draw picture stories, we will therefore substitute this the “Perannos . In this book we have the feats of our Warriors, the Redhawks, of the accomplishments of individuals, of organizations and of the feats of people we wish to remember.. We earnestly wish that this Year- book, the Perannos, will give much pleasure to its read- ers in the future years. THE STAFF 1 Dedicated To: We, the Staff of 52 realizing the fine honors our team, the Redhawks, bestowed onour school, do dedicate this, the 1952 Perannos, to our coach, Mr. Art Paddy. He has spent endless hours in training with the boys to develope the fine teams that we have had here. His boys have achieved honors in both athletic skill and in fine sportsmanship. Your team will long be remembered by everyone as the Upper Thumb Champs in both football and basketball for 52. „'7 Congratulations! Coach, you and your boys did a fine job. I was curious about the future and I could wait no longer to find out what was in store for me. The room was a dark, frightening room and I could scarcely see the gypsy who sat in the middle of the room. I was asked to draw four cards and from these she would read my future. As my trembling hand drew the first card she began to talk. I see a large brick school building and over 100 bright- ened Freshmen entering its doors. The students are choosing leaders and Dick Wallace is President with Gerald Whittaker as Vice-President: Bonnie Benkelman, Treasurer: Tom Schwaderer as Secretary and Mr. Parker, Advisor. “Ah, but now the picture is changing for the school doors are wide open and everyone is leaving for vacation. Three cards still remain so I pulled out the second card. She began again “Vacation is now over and the school is again filled.” I see people voting again, this 16 time the officers are: President, Gerald Whittaker; Vice-President, Mary McClorey; Treasurer, Dick Wallace; and Secretary, Tom Schwaderer with Miss Hunt as their advisor. Parties seem to be the main objective of this group but now the picture is fading so quickly draw the third card. I dropped the card on the table and the what she was seeing. This time it was Tom Whittaker, Vice-President; McClorey, Treasurer, and she said, “Is this a dinner Suey dinner in candlelight. Own can be seen by the ready to place the card on mysterious garden filled besides the Prom “May put on for the Seniors as gypsy picked it up as if to make sure of Schwaderer for President; Gerald Joyce Harris, Secretary; Mary Mr. Cardew as advisor. Ah, I see ? But of course, a Chop Now a play, “A Mind of Her wise one. Just as she was the table with the others a the view what else could it be Day Romp' which the Juniors a farewell to them. Should I take this fourth and last card or should I let the still remaining card the still untold future be, and wait as most people do? Three years had been unfolded in the few minutes I had been in the fortune telling booth and now I hesitated to see what the fourth and last card, would bring to me. Curiosity getting the better of me I drew the fourth and last card, with trembling hands and a frightened anxious heart I handed the card to the outstretched hand of the gypsy. It revealed Ron Posluszny as President of the Senior Class, John Agar, Vice-President; Joyce Harris, Secretary, and Bonnie Benkelman, Treasurer, with Mr. Holmberg as a helpful advisor. “Quickly go on I urged as she hesitated. Is it a Hollywood First Night Show or a Senior Play? It's hard to tell as all the actors are doing such a good job at making “Strictly Formal an entertaining play”, she said. “Now I see a table laden with cakes, pies, cookies and many other inviting foods, the Seniors must be at it again, this time with a Bake Sale to raise money for their trip. “Oh, what is this I see ? I never before have seen a picture like this one in the cards. It seems to be charts of the Seniors, a Senior Poll of some kind with Alex Salas and Bonnie Benkelman the two most popular Seniors, and Barbara Morell and John Ellis the class brats. As that picture fades out many other faces that are outstanding in the '52 class appear. My what an ambitious group of students, first dances, then skating parties, plays, bake sales, a movie, concessions at the games and now maga- zine sales just to make money for a trip. This trip really must be something to make students work so hard for it. And it is, for the Seniors are going to New York. Now I see a prom but as the picture fades a group of anxious Seniors in caps and gowns re- place it. It must be Senior Swing Out. Quickly the fading picture is replaced by a speeding train and the 1952 Seniors are finally getting their reward for all their work as it races to New York City. That being the last card I grabbed my coat and left to face the future as it would come. So, too, with the closing of school we, the Seniors, will take our coats and leave Cass City High School to face the future. It will be with keen regret that we leave CCHS for it has grown to mean very much to all of us in the last four years and shall be missed by everyone. 17 Margaret Mary Richard Lois Gerald Elwyn H Nancy John E Little Richard Dick Bonnie K, Bonnie K. Esther V Barb Wanalee Dick W. and Bonnie Dorothy Ruth Ann Tom Joy and Lois 18 Class Prophecy The Seniors of 52 were a very fine bunch indeed. We knew, without exception that they would all succeed. With Joyce Lounsbury as his secretary, no doubt he will succeed. Charlyne Bartz has now become a great professional skater. She and Paul com- pose a team which is definitely a top rater. Bonnie got married just like we all said and just guess who to? That’s right, it’s Fred. As doorman at the Park Sheriton, George B. caused quite a boom. He got his practice from answering the door‘i _Mr. O’atley’s room. Dale Buehrly ha settled down never more to roam. He is the proprietor of a bachelors home. ---- Dorothy Butler really does grand. Frank Creason, as you all fehould know, is the proud owner of a burlesque show. Rosemary and Rudy have long been settled down. We find them living on a farm that’s three miles south of town. Virginia S. and Judy D. have a good busi- ness arid you can see. What else have they done but set up a Reducing Agency. Playing on the team, John Ellis made quite a few baskets. Now as an under- taker we find him carrying caskets. When Patty E. became a scientist, she really caused quite a fu y. She is known around the world as a second Madame Currie. Violetta F. must really be brave. As an African missionary souls does she save. Wesley Fredricks was destined to be, a hard boiled General in the Infantry. Grace Ann and Evelyn will be back with us soon, they are just returning from a trip to the moon. Albert Griffon now has a farm, just as good as any. He is now content with his latest wife, who is Annette Pinney. Dale Groth as a photographer was always very able. Now we find him photograph- ing $uch stars as Betty Grable. Joyce flarris went to Texas, so the people say. Gee Joyce, did you have to go so far away ? Charles Hartwick is known in many coun- tries, for writing such blood thirsty murder mysteries. It all started out with just hugs and kisses, now Elwyn and Shirley are called Mr. and Mrs. Maynard was always so little and short he had to stand on his toes. They fly through the air with the greatest of ease, the “Little Sisters’’ on the flying trapeze. 19 Lois Little wrote a book on “How to Catch a Man . Now all the girls are reading it to find out how they can. We used to say Mary McClory should go out for track, but the race is all over she got Dale back. Archie went to Kansas and thought he liked the state: so he bought a cattle ranch called the “Lazy 8 . Jane McMiller, who smiled at the lads, now has a job posing for corset ads. Patsy McQueen was so short she wore spikes, but now she’s married Gary and has six little tikes. When your car won’t run don’t get in a panic. Lawrence Marshall is now a fine mechanic. Betty Martin has gone through college we see, and now is Mr. Holmbergs private secretary. Glen Meiser is finally happy we learn. He is sole owner of the Cass Tavern. On the college campus Barb really does rate. Leading the yells for Michigan State. A Cass City girls hair never looks like a mop; now that Ester VanNorman runs a beauty shop. Jeanette Parker is known as “The Gay Divorcee”. She now has husband num- ber twenty-three. Bill Patch could play the coronet with talent beyond compare . Now he’s playing in a band that’s led by Nancy Sinclair. Joan Patterson proved that she could excel, he is editor-in-chief of the Chronicle. It seems that Ernie Pena always worked at the theater. He fell in love with Ava G. but never could meet her. Doris Root, Cass City’s great lover, now has her face on a magazine cover. In newspapers and magazines we find Ron Posluzny’s face on every page. In Hollywood Ron’s cute mustache is really quite the rage. Catherine Ross was noted for her poise and sweet charm. Now two sets of twins are her cause for alarm. Alex Sales’ sense of humor was bound to take him far on radio and television he is nationally a star. Ruth Phillips now leads a happy life. Especially, now that she’s Dale Rabideaus wife. I guess Ruthann Schwaderer used the pro- per bait, for we see that she has finally hooked Worthy Tait. Over the radio we hear of a Cass City resident.. Well what do you know, Tom Schwarderer is U.S. President. With people and society Dee certainly does mingle. But only because she’d hate to stay single. As a detective, Marshall Sowden now totes a gun. He scares the gangsters and makes them all run. Virjean has finally married Jim. For her there was no one but him. Dorothy Tyo will be leaving us soon. It seems that she has a wedding all planned for June. Peggy Urquhart, the singing cowgirl, is Cass Theaters next attraction. He is the caretaker of the Detroit Zoo. She has tried lots of things, like being a shoe seller. Now Shirley Bukowski is a fortune teller. Of writing this, we have had our fill. 1 11 bet we know two people you w'ould like to kill. Elaine W. was always so neat and refined. She now owns a swank dress shop of the very best kind. It seems his mother wanted him to be a good writer, but Gerald W. had plans to be a prize fighter. Our George Wilson is now wearing a crown. In Gagetown he reigns as mayor of the town. “Mary Wood is very talented,” so people used to say. Now we find her on a farm, helping Ben pitch hay. Arlene Wills was a girl that was quiet. When she eloped, it caused quite a riot. Eldon’s at the Capitol, the Senators pride and joy. He has the important position of No. 1 page boy. An Admiral in the Navy the best you’ve ever seen. Now whose could this high position be? Why it belongs to Dean. Bob Putnam’s good fortune is not a mirage. For now he is owner of the Chevrolet garage. Marjorie Kilbourne is on television after quite a few bumps. As a lady wrestler she has plenty of lumps. Milton Phillips was always a smart crea- ture.
