Z2..f.f4.11 D.Lawson, J.Schwe1ger, D.Hnderson, V.Bates, Je Dickmane Coach Curran has succeeded before in developing one of the strongest teams for the Monroe - Vernon Conference. But this year his results were the best. Cashton f1n1shed tn1s year's season with a complete record of winning all conference games. The outstanding men of the team were the first true f1ve2Donald Lawson - guard James Dlckman - guard Duane Anderson - center James Schweiger - forward Victor Bates - forward A11 of the first squad graduate this year. Gashton again was host during the tenth annual Class 'BW Basketball Tournament of February 20, 21, 22, 25. Teams participating were Cashton, Ontario, Onalaska West Salem, Holmen, N orwalk, Bangor, Melrose. The Cashton Cagers did better in tournament play than in a few previous years. But were unable to defeat Bangor who handed Cashton its only defeats all through the season, beating them three times. They, however, handed Bangor tough competition and whose better score by a margin of 55-32 overtook West Salem for the Tournament Championshis. The star team included our own nFarley' ickman. Four players of the Cashton cage champions were placed on the all conference team selected by the coaches of the Monroe-Vernon Conference loop. The only unanimous choice was 'Farley.' Others were Jim Schwelger, Vic Bates, and Duane Anderson.

Caehton 19 Norwalk 3 Sept.25 Doc Lawson did a beautiful Job of pitching sld with real sugport Caehton mowed down or- wslk 19-5. Ole ashak led hitting with two triples and a double. Spaeth walking three times made a total of ten walks in three games. Caehton 4 Wilton 3 0ot.2 Caehton defeated Wilton 4-5 in a tough game. A seventh inning rally pulled Caehton through. J. Schwelger's double brought ln D. Anderson and F. Spaeth te win. Schwelger and Lawson shared the pitching. Caehton 5 Ontario 6 0ct.5 Caehton went down in d8f88t 6-3 at Ontario. Both teams had 4 hits but Caehton had 8 errors After awson allowed 5 hits in 3 innings, 'Ole took over nd kept them to one hit. Diokman had three doubles. Caehton 20 Norwalk 3 0et.9 New we were en the ball and downed Norwalk 20-3. Dlckman led the hitting with two doubles, a triple, and a single. Lawsene Bchwsiger, and Mashak took pitching duties. I

SEASON SUMMARY November lst Cashton 22 Bangor 26 Cashton played an impressive QBDB, but due to the skill of the Bangor team they were defeated in their first game of the season. November 8th Gashton 18 Bangor 21 With the game tied at the half, Bangor handed our cagers a second defeat. November 16th Cashton 29 Viroqua 25 Cashton quintette experienced by their two defeats, overtook Vlroqua, a school with three times our enrollment. November 20th Cashton 21 Hillsboro 16 Playing a good game Cashton kept the lead all through the game. High scorer for this game was ames Sohweiger. November 28th Cashton 22 Norwalk 17 Cashton chalked up a 14-5 lead at the half, giving the cagers old rival a defeat, for the teams third successive victory. December 4th Cashton 50 Hillsboro 21 Gh hton handed Hillsboro their second defeat by leading at the half 17-8. High point man was Jim Dlckman with 12 points. December llth Cashton 51 Viroqua 15 Led by Vic Bates's 16 points the Maroon and Wh1te's chalked up another victory. Vir- oqua's second defeat during the season. December 15th Cashton 66 Wilton 20 Cashton's strong defense was to great for the weak Wilton team. We won again. December 19th Cashton 50 Kehdall 21 With only four of the regular cagers, iJim Schweiger absent due to illness? the boys chalked up a 29 point lead. Vic Bates led the scorers with 21 points. January Sth Caahton 50 Ontario 27 Vacation over the boys are still going strong. Handing Tiny L8mPheP9'5 Kickapoo Cagers a defeat, Vic Bates and Schweiger shared the honors with 10 and ll points re- spectlvely. January llth Cashton 55 Westby 25 Westby was our visitors to-nite and they were handed a defeat. Score at the half was ll-15. Vic Bates led the scorers with ll points.
