FLAME STAFF Staff Photographer Jill Morris, Trainee Jeannie Savage and Chief photographer Joni Snedeker. Each September, twelve exuberant staff members and one optimistic Adviser meet in the Flame room where they solemnly vow that this new book will be the best yearbook ever. Other rash statements are made also, such as: all assignments will be in on time, all potential advertizers will be contacted and nothing, absolutely nothing, will be misplaced or lost! Along about Christmas realism replaces fantasy and by Valentine's Day pure nake panic has gripped the editors. This volumn is the first in the Flame history to have color and we are very proud to be able to add it. The color also added to the already strained budget which we are not so proud of, so if this turns out to be the only issue of the Flame with color - don't be surprized. The life of a Flame Staff member is not an easy one for there is constant involvement from the day school opens until that last Senior has accepted his diploma. If there are any brave souls who would like to be a member of the school's neurotic sub-elite . .. we will be regrouping next September (after a summer of RGR) in the Flame room. Bottom Row: Carla Storer advertizing, Alma Baston typist, Cheryl Goble advertizing. Row 2: Cindy McCoy and Cynthia Banish class sections; Debbie Beccue and Marsha Lansbery special sections. Top Of The Heap: Alisa Ulrey Senior Editor and Kent Shoot Junior Editor. 17

GRRRthT! Ten years from now little may be remembered about the Senior Class of 1977, but we, the graduates of that class will remember four of the most important years of our lives. Many of us will recall the joy of being together and sharing the excitement of great athletic events and participating in fine plays and musical concerts. Cramming for tests and writing term papers will also be remembered, but with much less enthusiasm ! The painful happenings will be softened by time in our memories and the happy events and the friendships will be even stronger and more precious to us. We have been the generation of change, the victims of inflation and the reluctant pioneers of the energy crunch. We have witnessed scandal and observed restored honor in our school system. Perhaps some of us will remain cynical toward the establishment we are so soon to join, but many of us recognize that no system is better than the people it serves or less foulable than those we chose to run it. Ten years from now the members of the Class of 1977 will be scattered. The togetherness we have shared will be memory and the purple and gold momentos will be packed away in some forgotten drawer. By the end of that decade we will have realized that we owe a great debt of graditude to our parents and teachers, for they gave so much and we appreciated so little. Ten years from now we will have realized that we were not given an education, but rather we were presented with an opportunity to obtain an education for ourselves. Perhaps then we will also acknowledge an even greater debt, one that is owed to the citizens of Casey who gave us the best graduation present of all . . . four years of golden opportunities! Vice President Mike Morris, President Scott Ross, Student Council Representatives Renee Hayden and Brenda Tatge. Not pictured are Treasurer Kathy Harvey and Secretary Paula Richardson.
