Thespians Debate Club To become a member of Thespians a student must have earned ten points through participation in class plays. The purpose of the Thespian Troope is the advancement of standards of excellence in dramatic arts, the encouragement of students to attain a mastery of the language, the development of poise and self-confidence, and the appreciation of dramatic literature and techniques. Members of the troope were involved in class plays and contest plays. They announced at ballgames and had parties. The officers were; Sharon Tedrick, Danny Haddock, Sandra Staley, Larry Hudson, Miss Millet, sponsor. The Debate Club was organized this year to encourage the mastery of language, to develop poise and self-confidence, to encourage public speaking, and to promote intra-school competition. The club holds debates, enters debate contests, and sponsors dances. The officers were: Trudy Groothius, president; Sue Smith, vice president; Don Coch-onour, secretary; Tim Yow, treasurer. Majorette tryouts were open to the whole student body and they were elected by the band. Sharon Tedrick is the drum major. This is her second year at the job. Sharon is a senior this year and holds one of the most important jobs in the band, that of giving the signals. She plays the tympani in the concert band. She is active in many different things. She belongs to the choir and has sung in a girl’s ensemble. Linda Spraggins, the drum majorette, is in her third year of leading the band. She is a junior this year and is also very active. This will require a great deal of effort on the part of the present cheerleaders because they are among the most active students in school, as may be seen by looking at a list of their activities. Diana Kline has been a cheerleader all four years in high school. She was vice-president of her class during her sophomore and junior years. She was a student council representative during her sophomore, junior, and senior years. She was in Teepee Players her freshman and sophomore years. She enjoys music, dancing, sketching, bowling, and having loads of fun. Donna Redman, a sophomore, has been a cheerleader, in G. A. A., and band during both her years in high school. Library Club The officers of the Library Club were: Judy Black, president; Sue Black, vice president; Joyce Legg, secretary-treasurer; Barbara Hanners, reporter; and Miss Mankin, sponsor. The club was organized to promote better use of the school library and its facilities. One of the club's outside projects this year was a Christmas party to which the members brought gifts to be given to the children of a needy family of this community.
