Text from Pages 1 - 88 of the 1959 volume:

Our Highway Is a Marvelous Road Along an Exciting Journey High school years provide wonderful memories in one way or another, for millions of people everywhere. As we entered Casey High School and took our places, frightened and adventurous, in the 7th Grade Halls, little did any of us realize the journey that lay ahead. Our journey has taken us many places, taught us many lessons and introduced us to many fine people. The dances, the class plays, and the ball games on Friday nights were milestones as we traveled. Soon, the class of 1959 will leave the Highway that has become so much a part of our lives, and venture out to new horizons, but whatever the future may hold for us we are confident that our adventures along Highway 59 will compose only the very finest of memories of Casey High School. Sharon is a senior this year and holds one of the most important jobs in the band, that of giving the signals. She plays the tympani in the concert band. She is active in many different things. She belongs to the choir and has sung in a girl’s ensemble. Linda Spraggins, the drum majorette, is in her third year of leading the band. She is a junior this year and is also very active. She plays a trombone in the concert band. She is also in choir (Continued on Page 3) (Photo by Northwmy) ! This will require a great deal of effort on the part of the present cheerleaders because they are among the most active students in school, as may be seen by looking at a list of their activities. Diana Kline has been a cheerleader all four years in high school. She was vice-president of her class during her sophomore and junior years. She was a student council representative during her sophomore, junior, and senior years. She was in Teepee Players her freshman and sophomore years. She enjoys music, dancing, sketching, bowling, and having loads of fun. Donna Redman, a sophomore, has been a cheerleader, in G. A. A., and band during both her years in high school. This year she is also in choir. She likes to write letters, to read, and to collect stuffed animals. The so-called greenhorns have gone through this year being teased by the upper classmen, as have the many classes before them. They have proved themselves worthy of their name by joining many social activities and participating willingly in them. They took part in the Homecoming parade and in the Halloween Festivities. They also helped with the E.I. League Tournament concessions. The class president was Ronnie Ault. Other officers were: David Haworth, vice president; Linda Gardner, secretary-treasurer; Pat Hunt, student council representative. The sponsors for the class were Mrs. Davis and Mr. Boyer. FRANCES LUCILLE WEIR Tis in my memory locked, and you yourself shall keep the key of it. —Shakespeare Our journey has brought us now to a turning point in our lives. As seniors we see what these halls mean to us. We, who trudged them day by day for four long years, see that they mean not only empty halls, but they recall the laughter and the gloom which come with play and work in every class. The subjects which once seemed so dull now prove to be worth all the strain and work. As we look back to freshman days we see how trivial were our aims. We did not care for books but would rather gossip with the girls. School was just a boring place to be. . . As the next years quickly came and went, our attitude changed. Emotions faded to more common sense. The teachers now became our friends instead of bitter personalities. . . Books began to be more interesting when we saw how much there is to learn. Minds began to change from thoughts of play to future plans, decisive and so near. We started standing on our own at last. Now as we look toward graduating day we realize how much we owe to our school . . .For friends we've met and studied with, for teachers with enduring patience. . . Impressions on our lives which always say, Remember high school days--they were so great. Now on in Life and use what you have gained.
