12 THE 1938 STUDENT COUNCIL First Row: Ginger Vail, Jim Giffin, Adviser Maurine Johnson, Bernard Forester, Principal f. B. Buckler. Second Row: William Weaver, Lamont Dehl, Clayton Robey, Leona Short, Rosemary Weigel, Herschel Collins, LaVonne Chrysler, Marjorie Watt, Eugene Johnson. The Student Council for 1937-1938 has been one of the most active in the history of Casey High. The Council was composed of officers from the four classes and presided over by the senior officers. The officers of the Council were president, Bernard Forester; vice-president, Jim Giffin; secretary and treasurer, La Vonne Chrysler. This governing body with the help of their adviser, Miss Maurine Johnson, did many beneficial things for the student body. For instance, it planned an employment agency to be used by the students to find odd jobs and after school and Saturday work. Veairnell White became the adviser for this project. Due to his enthusiastic work, this agency was made an active part of our school program this year. The committee for this work was Chairman Eugene Johnson, Marjorie Watt, Leona Short, Lamont Dehl, and Rosemary Weigel. The committee which had the responsibility of planning all assemblies was Jim Giffin, chairman; Eugene Johnson, Bill Weaver, Rosemary Weigel, Mary Huntington (adviser). The recreation committee to sell tickets for lyceums, keep dates for parties separate, and such, were Herschel Collins, chairman, Marjorie Watt, Jim Giffin, Ginger Vail, and Clayton Robey. The entire Student Council had charge of the Christmas decoration with Rosemary Weigel as chairman.
