It was a beautiful May afternoon in 1946 when we caught the main building in this leafy pose. The curving asphalt driveway was warm underfoot. We noticed a transit on the front lawn and someone pounding pegsrinto the lawn in a very uniform manner. From then on, this was to be referred to as the 01d approachethe old driveway. It wasn't tong before a new driveway was bulldozed out; the trees and asphalt of the old approach reluctantly gave way to the Tomlinson Memorial Union foundation, to the beginnirig of our post-war building program and progress.
