Nothing is as empty as lives filled with consuming loneliness and gnawing regrets about what might have been. The poetry and songs of centuries echo in many ways the human calamity of unfilled hopes and shattered dreams. No such despair should fill the Class of 1985. Use your imagina¬ tion to dream and use your resources to fulfill those dreams and visions. In doing so, discover your best talents, skills and abilities and apply them where they will make the most effective contribution to your fellow man. Accept the challenge of the difficult. In the inspiring words of Phillip Brooks, Do nor pray for tasks equal to your powers. Pray for powers equal to your tasks. On behalf of myself and the faculty and staff at Joseph Case High School, I wish to each and every one of you the happiness of a productive life, the respect of your fellow human beings, and the love of your family. May the future be yours. The Best of Luck and congratulations to the Class of 1985. To the class of 1985: For the past four years the faculty and administration of Case has made a sincere effort to prepare you for your future. It is my hope rhar you reach and surpass your goals with dedication and responsibility. I wish you the Best of Luck, and remind you rhar luck is what happens when preparation meets an opportunity. 4 ENGLISH DEPARTMENT Mr. Sheldon Ashron Mr. Patrick Carr Mrs. Donna Hawley Mr. Thomas Marcello Mr. Austin O ' Toole Dr. Michael Gauthier Department Head Mrs. Meredith Powers Mrs. Marilyn Roderick Mrs. Elizabeth Smith 6 SCIENCE DEPARTMENT Mr. Michael DeSocio Mr. Michael Flanagan Mr. Leonard Gray Mr. E. Lasr year ar my high school in Israel, I applied ro come ro America as an exchange srudenr. I live in a big rown named Perach-Tikva, which is near Tel Aviv. Some of my favorire acriviries are swimming in rhe Mediterranean Sea, dancing in Tel Aviv, shopping ourdoors in a marketplace, and using bus rransporrarion daily. The organization that sponsored me is Open Door ' ' which is parr of rhe American Field Service based in New York. Many of my friends traveled ro America with me. I was assigned ro be hosted by a family in Swansea. I love Swansea—especially rhe beautiful rivers, Swansea Mall, McDonald ' s, hot oatmeal, Thanksgiving dinner, super highways, school dances, and football games. Schoolwork is much more difficult for Israeli teenagers bur we know how ro combine pleasure with work. Every student who wishes to enter rhe university must Take an important graduation exam first. After two years in rhe Israeli Army, students can then begin their studies in college. These are my future plans also. Being a senior ar Case was a most enjoyable experience. The teachers were kind and friendly. The most impressive differences between Case and my high school in Israel are rhe colorful after school acriviries such as drama, sports, band, cheerleading, and rhe yearbook. Unfortunately, I was nor here for rhe prom. I will always remember rhe wonderful friends I have made and I invite all of them ro visit me in Israel. Thank you very much. Shalom, Alona May all your words be words of pleasantness, and all your paths peace. 79 HAPPINESS AT CASE HIGH SCHOOL IS . . . . . .
