To The Graduating Class Of 1976 During the past decade there has been a constant controversy in regard to the amount of emphasis that should be placed on student rights in relation to student responsibility in our schools. As the pendulum has swung disproportionately toward rights over responsibility, the concern about discipline in schools has become more and more pronounced. Discipline, both external and internal, is generally accepted as being the nucleus of achievement and the decade or so of permissiveness has taken its toll in this regard. As you go on toward new horizons and are able to take a more objective look at your years of elementary and secondary schooling it is my hope that you will do all in your power to effect a change back toward the middle of the road approach to student rights and responsibilities and the idea of “doing what is right even when it is inconvenient.” I hope that your years here have been fruitful and that you have taken advantage of all the offerings available. We, as in life outside of school, can only provide the opportunities but you must be responsible for taking advantage of them to the best of your ability. I wish you all success and happiness in your future endeavors. “Your education begins when what is called your education ends.” — Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes Charles R‘. Loverin Best Wishes in all future endeavors. Paul F. Monahan

Dedication To Our Good Buddy, The students of the graduating class of 1976 dedicate this edition of “The Chief” to Mr. Kenneth Adams in appreciation of the friendship and knowledge he has bestowed on us. It is difficult for a teacher to realize that he can gain respect and maintain discipline, and still be a friend to his students. This has always been his goal, and he has indeed succeeded. Our Good Buddy is known throughout the school for his twinkling smile, laughing eyes, and warm, humble wit. As we grow into adulthood, let us strive for those intangible qualities and practices Our Good Buddy has employed in his life, and may we reach an understanding of ourselves and the world around us with the faith and beauty that Mr. Adams constantly serves as an example of. To our everloved Albagoose Adams, Thank You. 6
