You have successfully completed your high school graduation and are well on your way to taking your place in this world which can be both cruel and gentle. I am sure that graduation is only the first of many accomplishments while you travel the road of life and I wish you happiness and success in whatever fields of endeavor you.choose. “If a man does not keep pace with his companions, Perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured and far away.” Thoreau Sincerely, Charles R. Loverin Principal Joseph Case High School Administration As members of the first class to graduate from the new Case High School I trust that many of you leave with some lingering doubt as to “what might have been” had you been able to have a normal secondary school situation throughout your Junior and Senior High Years. Through no fault of your own you have been somewhat short changed in your educational pursuit and yet through the years many of your predecessors have had less to work with than you have had. It is true that we as human beings tend to want to blame all of our shortcomings, real or imaginary, on forces or circumstances outside of ourselves. And yet History has proven over and over again that people can rise above seemingly invincible odds in the pursuit of just goals. In your future endeavors please do not compromise with mediocrity on the basis of “what might have been”. It is easy to do just that but I trust that each and every member of your class will make an honest attempt to defy the odds in your effort to attain your just goal. My sincere best wishes to e-ach and every one of you upon the completion of your high school years. Paul F. The scoring in a track meet is as follows 1st place — 5 points, 2nd place 3 points, 3rd place — 1 point. There are 16 events in a track meet. And Case took at least 8 first places in every meet. Each person can compete in only 4 events. The high scorer for the year was Captain Michael Ploude. In Mikes first five meets this year he scored 20 first places or 100 points. Mike competed in the long jump, triple jump, 220 yard dash, and low hurdles. Mike broke the school record in the long jump and also the 880 which he broke last year. Other milestones for the year were Steve Rusnock and Tom Gagnon. Tom broke the high jump record with a leap of 6ft. lin. Steve broke the mile run record breaking the old record by three seconds. Other first places were taken thruout the year, Chris Britland in the shot put, Russ Malone in the Javilin, and Joe Carberry in the hundred yard Dash. B. Cobb, M. Traveira, R. Malone, B. Monteiro, C. The girls, along with the coaching aid of Ms. Christine Stanton, gave an excellent performance of their gymnastic abilities. ■ Gymnasts Donna Doane, Nancy Farias, Donna Estes, Paula McCarthy 75 TENNIS SPRING 75 The Case High School Tennis Team had a moderately slow season this year, reason lies in the fact that the team was new, and members were inexperienced in their first year. Most of the team’s members were underclassmen, only three seniors (all girls) held places on the team. In spite of their losses, the team worked diligently this year and have shown that given time they’ll be ace!!! There were no co-captains for the 74-75 season, but Coach Russ Noble has announced that next years Co-Captains will be Bill Brown and Dennis Ferreira. Despite its informality the annual Drama Club Costume Banquet again displayed the club’s talents in the forms of original costumes and characterizations. I’ve come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping, Left its seed while I was sleeping And the vision that was planted in my brain still remains Within the sounds of silence. In restless dreams I walk alone Narrow streets of cobblestone ’Neath the halo of a street lamp, I turned my collar to the cold and damp, When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light that spiit the night And touched the sounds of silence. And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more, People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never share And no one dare Disturb the sounds of silence. Fools said 1 , “You do not know, Silence like a cancer grows Hear my words that I might teach you Take my arms that I might reach you, But my words like silent raindrops fell. And echoed in the wells of silence, And the people bowed and prayed, To the neon god they made And the sign flashed out its warning In the words that it was forming, And the sign said the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls and tenement halls, And whispered in the wells of silence.
