There’s a feeling I get when I look to the west and my spirit is crying for leaving In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees and the voices of those who stand looking. And it’s whispered that soon if we all call the tune then the piper will lead us to reason and a new day will dawn for those who stand long and the forests will echo with laughter And it makes me wonder. DONALD McCaffrey SUPERINTENDENT 9 4 Dedication For several years now, a quiet intelligent man in spectacles has been occupying a serene position in the Math Department here at Case. Teaching various math courses for the last 17 years, he has helped many students understand arithmetic at all levels. Whether he is adding 2+2 or discussing the complicated, Pythagorean Theorem, he always explains it in a way that is easily comprehensible. He is respected by his peers for his teaching methods. He has gained the respect of his students by his active involvement in their activities. This is the one thing that we the Class of 74 respect the most about him. He has been helpful to us as a teacher, an advisor, and most of all a friend. It seems only right that this yearbook be dedicated to the man who was instrumental in making our years at Case happy and successful. Mr. Bernier we thank you. This years council was not only able to play an active part in the Mass. Association of Student Councils, attending conventions and seminars, but they were also able to be an integral part of this high school by being aware of the needs of the general student body and working for and with them. Perhaps the council’s greatest achievement was their ability to present substantial scholarships at the end of the year. The Academic and Advisory Councils are seperate, yet still a part of the Student Government. Both are fairly new to the school, but have proven to be highly effective. Working along with Faculty members is the job of the Academic Council. The Advisory Council meets with the School Committee to discuss and often debate the wishes of the Student Body. All three councils which compose the school’s Student Government have served their designated purposes and proven themselves worthwhile. National Honor Society Librarians Cardinal Editors “The Cardinal” is the school newspaper published by and primarily for the students. With Mr. Dumont as their advisor, the members of the staff have been able to produce a highly professional and well-rounded publication. Besides feature articles, sports and literature, “The Cardinal” also contains an editorial section entitled “Speakers Corner” where any one, either student or teacher can voice their opinion. Award is presented to an out¬ standing senior girl who displays such qualities as leadership, patriotism, and a desire to serve in the school community. Denise Riley was chosen by the rest of the Senior Class of 1974 to be the recipient of this award. Her accomplishments while a student at Case proved her most worthy of this honor. Denise Riley Harvard Book Award The Harvard Book is presented annually to the Junior Boy who displays qualities of leadership, scholarship, and academic achievement. This award, an anthology containing the writings of Harvard graduates, is presented each year by the Harvard Club of Fall River. This year’s award was presented to John Perry. John Perry Betty Crocker Given annually by the General Mills Company, the Betty Crocker Award is received by a girl in the senior class who displays the greatest amount of homemaking knowledge on a standardized test.
