MISS REAGAN A high school principal must super¬ vise the mechanics of the school and Miss Reagan certainly does that effi¬ ciently. Notice how well your schedule is made out each year . . . not to men¬ tion the fact that the school is still standing. There is however a deeper, very spe¬ cial service that Miss Reagan performs for us. Without our realizing it, she has become an example for each of us to fol¬ low merely by eonducting herself as a lady at all times. Even when we dis¬ grace ourselves thoroughly a quiet word causes us more guilt than all the fury in the world because we feel we’ve let her down. Miss Reagan always respects us as adults even if sometimes we don’t de¬ serve it. Although Miss Reagan hasn’t taught in a formal classroom for a while, she’s more a teaeher than ever before. From her we’ve learned many lessons: eourte- sy, dedication and fairness and we’ve gained someone who is personally in¬ terested in each of us. Miss Reagan has always listened respectfully to an hon¬ est opinion. In short, we have been fortunate to have known Miss Reagan as a person and a principal, one to whom we’ve given our admiration and thanks for al¬ ways being on our side.

MR. SILVA Every Freshman who has ever entered Case has quaked in his shoes at the thought of enraging Mr. Silva . . . until he discovers at graduation that be¬ hind that gruffness is a heart of gold. Mr. Silva serves as school sportsfan meteorolog¬ ist. During football season there is always a Friday 5th period announcement ( Don Kent says that it’s going to be a beautiful day for the game tomorrow; so I expect you all go get out there and support the team.’’) And the Cardinal’s No. 1 fan is at every game rain or shine. Got a problem? Go talk it over with Mr. Silva, the guidance counsellor. No one has ever found the door closed to a desire to talk things over . . . even if you’re no longer a student at Case. Finally, when you graduate from Case, you leave with more than a diploma; for you know that as a re¬ sult of a certain person’s (ahem) prodding’’ that you’re leaving Case a better person than you were when you entered AND you’ve gained a life-long friend. Thanks, Unc . . . for putting up with all of us! Mr. Edward R. Silva — Vice Principal 13
