HELEN A. REAGAN. PRINCIPAL To the Class of 1961: It is now evident that we are caught up in a wild race for space. In past years our en¬ deavors have been directed toward achieving success in the fields of science and technology. It now appears that we must re-examine our goals. Surely, we must have scientists and math¬ ematicians, but to what avail if there is no understanding of man himself. As you leave Case High School, the greatest problem facing the world will be that of liv¬ ing together in peace. No longer is it a question of can we co-exist, rather, it is an abso¬ lute necessity that we do. We must learn to live with all nations and yet not sacrifice our cherished individual freedom. This requires an understanding on your part of all peoples. It is hoped that your years at Case High School have directed you toward this understanding. The Bible calls this understanding love of man. The Apostle Paul said it this way: If I have prophetic powers, and understanding all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove moun¬ tains, but have not love, I am nothing. So it is with you. If you do not have love, which leads to understanding, for your fel- lowman, you will be nothing. Search for this love, this understanding, so that we may all live a more abudant life in a world of peace. My personal best wishes go with you as you pass another milestone in your search for this understanding. 8
