Town of Swansea, Massachusetts Department of Public Schools JOSEPH CASE HIGH SCHOOL OSBORNE 8-8326 HELEN A. REAGAN. PRINCIPAL To the Class of ' £9: As you complete your years of work at Case High School you see before you the promise of new horizons and opportunities not evident to previous graduating classes. You are about to take your place in a world only dreamed of just a few short years ago. The entire uni¬ verse beckons man to a new future; a challenge to the pioneering nature of man. It may seem strange to think of space travel as pio¬ neering, or the moon and the sun as frontiers. However, this is ac¬ tually the case, and some of you are the pioneers in this exacting technological venture. This pioneering requires more than courage and desire. Its most important requisite is education, and this, graduates, is something you have to earn. I cannot impress upon you strongly enough the ur¬ gency for additional le arning, whether this be formal or informal. Your life must be devoted to an understanding of the myriad changes occurring in our world, so that if you cannot pioneer at least you may be aware of the struggle for the frontier, or as the poet Whitman Sa S ”Lo, the darting bowling orbj Lo, the brother orbs around, all the clustering suns and planets, All the dazzling days, all the mystic nights with dreams, PioneersJ 0 pioneers! These are of us, they are with us. All for primal needed work, while the followers there in embryo wait behind. We to-day ' s procession heading, we the route for travel clearing. Pioneers! 0 pioneers! My sincere best wishes go with you. JTd P A S
