'THE CHANGING ERA” As a being, any being from the smallest amoeba to man himself goes through life, he undergoes changes. Childhood, adolescence, adult life: all are important milestones in one’s career as a living organism. We as students have gone through childhood, most of adolescence, and are approaching maturity. All through early life and grade school we have been pampered and babied; and now we are in high school, the seniors have graduated for the last time from the original Cascade Union High, and we are granted more liberties and freedom. We experience new heights in education, in social life, in personal emotions. High school is a small milestone in life; although to many students it is the most important part of existence. Years filled with bonfires, dances, homework, ball games, pep assemblies, homework, more homework, then finally a reward—graduation. We have finished the year of challenge, new customs, excitement, and difference with the feeling of success. Our school has had many tragedies, but with the students’ school spirit it has survived. Now with the new high school started, there are many ‘Changes” taking place. But the students will take them all in stride. We’ve traveled a long, tough, road and now we’ve reached its end. To better things now we look forward.

The Changing Era 'Tis time to ponder The points of today-- The way things are, The change and array. Our school is different, Its view has changed. It's no longer for us To try for a change. We gaze down the hall Amazed to see Our school once more; But this is not me. Old memories of ours, Of freshman years, Of proms and dances Do not appear. 'Tis time to change, To pace once more. No double shift Nor early mom. More changing yet; The Viet Nam war, The face of our nation, Our Soldiers afar. The graduates of past Taking care of the world Will soon be our job; We fear not, we're sure. That era was here. Another has come. To end with a line Should not be forgot. The difference is here Expected or not; Accept it we must- We have quite a lot. by Betty Ann Nollen The rebuilding begins. The gym begins to take shape as the beams are put in place. 2 The final touch; the bricks.
