Unfortunate Eighth Graders Experience Bright Moments Although the Cascade eighth graders experienced a losing season with a record of 4 wins and 7 losses, there were bright moments. They started off with a strong showing by defeating the Castle Rock Pirates 39-21. A bright moment in the game was Jeff Su.ndberg's 20 points. Even though the Cavaliers suffered let downs in the Cathlamet and Huntington games, they came back with a good second half defense to rope the Monticello Mustangs. The squad held the Mustangs to 2 points in the second half to win with a score of 24-20. A strong rally by Cascade fell short in the closing seconds as Castle Rock nudged the Cavaliers 23-22. Revenge was gained the following week when the Cougars in Losing Season were slain 32-26. The Cavaliers ran into strong Cathlamet rivals. Although Sundberg hit 15 points, the Cascade squad met defeat, 26-21. The next week Huntington topped the Cavaliers 35-27, even after a last quarter rally in which the Cavaliers made a valient effort to the last minute. In their next outing the Cavalier eighth grade team edged Chehalis by a 36-33 margin in an overtime game. Barry Myers was the key man for Cascade as he scored 14 points. Press time for the yearbook made it impossible to summarize the final game against the Monticello Mustangs.
