Seventh Graders Learn Basic Skills Intra-squad games and a meeting with the eighth grade team took the place of the annual two games with Monticello this year. During the practices the players learned the fundamentals of the game such as blocking, passing, tackling, and receiving. Because of the had field conditions, the young Cavaliers held practice sessions on the playground opposite Columbia Heights Ele- mentary School and on the field adjacent to the lower parking lot. The second-string eighth grade team defeated the first year players 13-6. Joe Opsahl scored the only touchdown for the seventh grade. The game was played on the new Mark Morris field. Coaches for the seventh graders this year were Mr. Lowell Hart and Mr. Lee Davis. Brad Fullerton practices the basic fundamentals of ball. handling. These type of drills will help the seventh graders in future years. Calisthentics is placed first in the busy day of the budding football player. Here they practice in the playground opposite Columbia Heights School. 42
