1977 Seniors Class History Four years ago two great forces entered the halls of Cascade High; the Ulmites and the Cascadians. After spending many days examining each other, to see if both consisted of the same species, the two groups decided to join their 54 bodies together as a means of protection, (as we all know Freshman are considered peons by every Senior that ever walked the great crowded halls of Cascade). And protection they needed the night of initiation! Many fond memories were found that night; like that cool refreshing feel of a raw egg running down your face and dripping from your hair, or the yummy taste of some aged contraption that was everything but poisonous, or so they told us! Oh yes the Freshman year was a fun time filled with a lot of experimenting in things like building floats, losing float contests, going to the Homecoming Dance stag, going to the Greaser Dance with other Freshman, and then finally a date to the Junior Prom (with a Sophomore). Finally BIGTIMES were coming around! All of us found some activity to keep us from doing anything stupid like studying. Many of the boys tried out for football, or basketball and some even got to play! Then there were all those other sports like Wrestling, Cross Country, Track, Girls Basketball, Boy Chasing, and Girl Chasing that kept us from getting completely bored of all those required classes like math, english, science and P. E. Winning the spirit stick on Black and Gold Day was another great accomplishment for us. Then another big time was in store for the Freshman—their chance to be part of the Broad- way Production LITTLE ABNER. Of course some of the more bold people in the class took advantage of this situa- tion, received a part in the play, and then did their best to impress any Star Hunter that might have been in the area (none seemed interested in the Freshman's great ability to act as a door stop!) But the Freshman weren't dis- couraged; their next goal in life was— Maybe next year we'll get a line to say! Many great feats were accom- plished with the help of our Freshman class members. The Boys Track team took first at State and the High School Band took a 1 at District Music Festival for the 1st time. 2
