Life was so simple then-when ini- initiation was your biggest fear and graduation your greatest hope. The year of '76 changed a lot of your lives. Suddenly the security of having a day planned for school, left you standing in line for a job. Remember photographs, watercolors of the past. Make your own myths, may they last longer than ours - wider than the sky we measure time by. They say you are foolish in wanting the sun. Say you are selfish in learning to run. Tell you that darkness is a blessing in disguise. But you're more than a beginning. You're learning to fly. Follow your heart, the bright lights and promises, and a pocketful of dreams. Read between the lines of the photographs and drink a toast to those who best survive the life they've lead. HOMECOMING ROYALTY Howard Maxwell Gina Loveland 66 The '75 Homecoming was celebrated with the traditional parade and football game. However the same old things took on a new light, what with Mr. Prestbo directing an alumni band (which was extremely good) and a bonfire which nobody attended. The unwelcome rain did not daunt the sophomores' spirits as they won first place in the float competi- tion. What appeared to be the Badgers first win slipped out of their hands when the field became so muddy even a pig won't enjoy himself. But memories were made and life enjoyed—which is why everyone lives anyway. BICENTENNIAL STATE CHAMPIONS F.H.A. This class of 76 was soon to become the greatest class in the history of Cascade. Mr. Woody our advisor from 8th grade remained with us. Led by President Tom Allee, Vice President David Gordon, Secretary Josie Mikes, Treasurer Gary Hershkowitz, and Reporter Gail Gruel our class was the first to be initiated since the Sr. Class of 73. The Class of 73 by coincidence initiatied us. A good time was had by all! We took last in homecoming float competition. Our freshman year we had five football players, five basketball players, six wrestlers, and three track stars. This was also the first year for Girl's basketball for many years. Our girls participated with ten, and had eight tracksters and three cheerleaders. We were represented in Student Council by three members of our class. The Class of 76 grew to 59 members in our Sophomore year. Selected as our fearless leaders were Mark Juedeman, President, Tom AI lee. Vice President, Becky Standley, Sec.-Treas. and Shelley Fayler and David Gordon as Student Council Representatives. Proving to everyone we could accomplish something, we were able to take first in the Homecoming float and our class won the Spirit Stick at nearly every sportnig event. Me had a lot to cheer about too with seven football players, five basketball jocks, six wrestlers and four in track. The girls went all out with seven cheerleaders, nine in basketball and ten in track. Three loyal members were in student council. Junior year, our class again totaled fifty nine members. Under the leadership of Mark Juedeman, President, Vice President Tom Allee, Treasurer Patti Evenson, Secretary Becky Standley and Reporter Shelley Wuerl, we placed second in the homecoming parade. Our queen candidate Tammy Olds, was corwned 1975 Homecoming Queen. Our athletic stars included six brave football players, four boys basketballers, four wrestlers, and four in track, and two in Cross Country. The girls started off the fall with six girls in basketball, four in Cross country, five track stars and two cheerleaders. We had seven juniors in CHS government and two juniors became editors of the annual. Our Junior Class play Anne Get Your Gun was a hit! Of course, the leading lady, Laurie Johnson, was a junior. For our Junior Prom, Pieces of April, Juniors, Lori Harris and Steve Crawford were the prom royalty of 1975. The carnival returned and we increased our funds while promoting the spirit of 76. Fifty three Seniors began their final year at good ole CHS. Our class officers were Tom Allee President, Pat Doty Vice President, Judy Pettit Secretary, Barb Webb Treasurer, Lori Harris Reporter. Historians: Maureen Creek, Leatha McBride, Shelley Fayler, Cathy Rose and David Gordon. Our Sports enthusiasts for the special year of 1976 were four football players, four basketball stars, two in track and two cross countrymen and six grapplers. Four girls were in each sport this year. Our two yearbook editors returned for 1976. Gail Gruel President of CHS student body, along with Steve Crawford Vice President and several representatives truly gave our class support in student government. Senior Howard Maxwell reigned over Homecoming. Our class again took last in the float competition. Ron Mora and Myra Hastings, also seniors were the royalty at the first FHA Rose Ball in four years. As Seniors we experi- enced concession stand nightmares, teas, banquets, a Hawaiian Luau, another carnival and our sneak trip to Fairmont Hot Springs. Through tragedy and festivity our class grew together. Now it's time to say goodbye to the class of '76. Your friends say they'll keep in touch. But you know they won't. Your teachers say come back and see them And you know you won't. Maybe someday it won't matter. But right now it hurts a little. Goodbye Little red schoolhouse. We know: Time cannot steal the treasures that we carry in our hearts. 88 GERBER’S OF MONTANA Sprockets, Roller Chain, Gates, Specialists in Grain handling, Power Transmission Equipment SERVING A GROWING STATE .mm...r ?u MONTANA POWER COMPANY 4th East Central GREAT FALLS, MONTANA Dennis Liz 71 HE 1 PI IB Pon-BEER-WME-SiMWlCHES Holiday Village Hot H ome Del ivery 727-2333 VIKING SEWING MACHINES Mann's Sewing Machine Shop 1126 Central Ave. GREAT FALLS, MONT WESTERN VILLAGE Western clothing for THE ENTIRE FAMILY Lower Mall - Holiday Village Shopping Center PINSKI BROS.
