STILL SA Y FIVE MINUTES ISN'T ENOUGH TIME TO GET FROM ONE CLASS TO ANOTHER KETOCHI MR. O.R. EVENSON We the Class of 73 appreciate all the kind things our beloved advisor, Mr. Ron Evenson, has done for us. His patience, understanding, concern and fortitude have indeed helped us through the past four years. It is largely because of his efforts that we feel the past four years have been a success. Because of this, we feel that this yearbook should, and will be dedicated to him. Thanks for everything, Mr. E. Again, we would like to wish the best to the best from the best. See Ya next Year! 97 98 CLASS HISTORY Four years ago the class of 73 entered the halls of CHS with forty-four students. With the help of our advisor, Mr. Evenson and our ablest leaders, Pres. Ron Strizich, Vice Pres. Kathy Minehan, Sec. Cindy Smith, Treas. Connie Teterud, and Reporter Ross Kesler, we began leaving our mark on things. The first place it can be found is on the C on the hill. During initiation we were forced to dress up and then succumb to the whims of the Seniors. Some of their tortures included walking on our hands and knees through the eighth grade room and run- ning downtown where they poured such things as molasses and a rotten pickle mixture over us. Covered with these delicacies we ran up the hill to whitewash the C . That night there was an initiation program open to the public at which time we had to recite a Senior pledge, eat various concoctions, and become involved in different ac- tivities. The next year, we returned with Pres. Kathy Minehan, Vice Pres. Mike Webster, Sec. Jeff Hamlett, Treas. Ross Kesler, and Reporter Connie Teterud. During the year we stayed socially active by having numerous dances and a private roller skating party. Before we knew it another year had passed and we became Jolly Juniors. During November of the year, suc- cess became ours with the production of a play entitled The Cataclysmic Loves of Cooper and Looper and their Friend who was Squashed by a Moving Van. Nor did we stop there. In the spring, we put on a banquet for the Seniors, a first that was enjoyed by all. Following the banquet was the Prom with its theme, Imagine . With colors purple, orchid and white, the gym and entryway were decorated more beautiful than you can imagine. Our officers through this year were Pres. Kathy Minehan, Vice Pres. Mike Webster, Sec. Connie Teterud, Treas. Jeff Hamlett and Reporter Jody Johnson. Then the year arrived that we became Super Seniors. Our officers this final year were Pres. Mike Webster, Vice Pres. Jeff Hamlett, Senior Rep. Jody Johnson, Sec. Kathy Minehan, Treas. Ross Kesler, Reporter Jacque Carlson, and Co-Historians Susan Squires and Robin Gruel. In April, the Junior Class held a banquet and Prom in our honor. As May came around the corner we found our calendar full of important events. Starting May 1st the Seniors were given open study halls. On May 6th and 7th, the long dreamt of Senior Sneak Trip and Educational Tour became a reality. After boarding our bus at 7:00 a. m. on Sunday, we took off for the Lewis and Clark Caverns. Following our tours through the caverns we visited the headwaters of the Missouri River, and the Mon- tana State University campus. During the afternoon, we went to Yellowstone Park and besides seeing much wild- life, we watched Old Faithful explode. The night was spent at the Stagecoach Inn in West Yellowstone where many people enjoyed the atmosphere of an indoor pool. The next day, we visited the Quake Lake area, the State Mental Hospital at Warm Springs, and the Berkeley Pit and the World Mining Museum in Butte. On May 8th, the Chestnut Valley Circle honored the Senior girls and their mothers and the Senior boys' mothers at a very nice tea. On May 20th, Baccalaureate began at 8:00 p. m. Trying something different this year, we walked in with a friend instead of by height. Our guest speaker was Father Patrick J. Donovan. The CHS Chorus sand Day by Day and the Girls Ensemble sang Sabbath Prayer. Finally, the night dreamt of four years ago by some of us took shape. On the night of May 21, 1973, thirty- five Seniors graduated from the halls of Cascade High School. Proud parents, relatives and friends were there listening to our Co-Valedictorians, Henry Thies and Kathy Minehan, Salutatorian Robin Gruel and our guest speaker, Dr. William Walters from Montana State University. John Strandell and Billie Perry provided entertain- ment. From that day forward it became our turn to see what is and ask why; to see what isn't and ask why not. 99 CLASS WILL I, Connie Teterud, will my ability to get along with Mr. Evenson to Deb Standley who could use lessons.
