— DEDICATION To the fond and loving memory of Danny Wuerl, we, the Class of 1966, dedicate this annual. Because of his happy smile, pleas- ant personality, and his Hi” to every- one he met, Danny will always be remembered in the hearts and minds of those who knew him. Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds--and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of--wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue Tve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace Where never lark, or even eagle flew-- And, while with silent lifting mind Ifve trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand and touched the face of God. The highlight of the season was a 52-20 Homecoming victory over Dutton. BONAMIE’S BADGERS REWRITE RECORDS Coach Bernie Bonamie's Bombing Badgers of 1965-1966 almost rewrote the entire record book as capacity crowds once again filled Cascade's gymnasium. Badger enthusiasts backed the team to six new school records, top honors at the Cascade Invitational Tourney, a 96 point scoring spree, conference championship, and shed a few tears as one point defeated THEIR team after three overtimes for District 12C honors. State was their goal. Though not achieved, only a championship team could have provided the thrills, excitement, and records supplied by the Mighty Badgers of 1965-1966. Terry Salo and Mike Jerin were selected as members of the all-district 12C team and Bob Marquis for the 2nd team. BADGER THINCLADS Coach Ralph Halverson’s Thinclads for the 1965-1966 season carried home three trophies to be displayed in the new trophy case. The season began when Cascade topped about 20 teams to win the Belt Invitational Meet. Other trophies came with fourth place finishes in both the District 12 and Northern Division Meets. The Badgers didn't lose a dual meet as they topped Augusta 85-46, Centerville 72-50, and the Helena J.V. 's 73-58. In a quadrangular meet with Helena J.V. ’s, Boulder, and Great Falls Central J.V. 's, Cascade brought home top honors. Terry Salo, after placing 4th in the shot at the State Meet and winning the shot and discus at the Junior Olympics, was invited to participate in the Meet of Champions. He heaved the shot for 5th place in that event. Terry now holds the school record in both the shot put and discus with heaves of 143 6” in the discus and 48'3 1 2 in the shot. Don Keyes pole vaulted 11’8 to set a new school record in that event. A high jump of 5'9” and triple jump of 36 TO 3 4 wound up in the books for Mike Jerin.
