Carson, George Clinger, Bob Collins, Julia Ferguson, Bill Flechsenhar, Maryann Hocevar, Sherry Hunter, Pat Kinkaid, Margie Lovcik, Darlene Podvin, Pat Rieke, Karen Sallee, Bob Seward, Sharon Vaughn and Carol Von Stein. Our class sponsor for our four years was Mr. Halverson. Class officers were Bill Flechsenhar, President; Maryann Hocevar, Vice President; Pat Rieke, Secretary; and Margie Lovcik, Treasurer. We were initiated by the Mighty Sophomores and then, to show there weren't ill-feelings, we gave a dance to honor them. Our other activities during the year were a Pixie Dance, Noise Rally and first place on our Western Days float in the Ketochi parade. Our Sophomore year opened with the initiation of the lowly Freshmen. New additions to our class, and we needed them, were Billie Jones, Clarence Jones, and Cynda Hanson. Our losses were Carol Adams, Bob Collins, Pat Kinkaid, Karen Sallee, Bob Seward, Sharon Vaughn, George Johnsrud, Ida and Pauline Belgard, Kathy Richter, and Dennis Rosmiller. The Class officers were: Bill Flechsenhar, President; Carol Von Stein, Vice President; Pat Rieke, Secretary; Sherry Hunter, Treasurer. That year we had rag sales, the Western Dance, raffle, and first place on our Ketochi Day Float. Bill Flechsenhar received the best-dressed-girl award. For our float we portrayed an Alaskan and a Hawaiian scene. For our Junior year, Gary Bergum, Mary Helman, Jim Lantz, John Lindseth, Richard Wright, and Jim Waddell joined us. Our number was lessened by the loss of Billie Jones and Clarence Jones. The officers for the year were: Pat Rieke, President; Richard Wright, Vice President; Margie Lovcik, Treasurer; and Sherry Hunter, Secretary. Sherry soon left us and Cynda Hanson was elected. Then Cynda left and Mary- ann was placed into office. Mary Ann stayed with us, she wouldn't let the job get her down. Mary Hel- man departed also. Highlights of the junior year were: ordering our class rings, a float for Homecoming, the Western Dance, our class play, and Junior Prom; Aloha Oe. Seniors at last! Donald Dedman and Barbara Maxwell joined our class at the beginning of the year and Barbara Tolman came to us later. Margie Lovcik was not with us this year. It was a busy year for all. There was the Homecoming float, Sadie Hawkins Dance, Christmas Ball, ordering announcements, putting out the Ketochi, Sneak Trip, Baccalaureate and most important of all, Graduation. These four years in high school have been very happy ones for us and we hope our future proves to be the same. CLASS OFFICERS President: Pat Rieke Vice President: James Lantz Secretary: Maryann Hocevar Treasurer: Carol Von Stein 14 CLASS WILL Pat Rieke wills her blonde hair to Dorothy Baker and Susan Ogden, they both asked for it. To Earleen she leaves all the good times at C.H.S. Carol Von Stein wills her job as editor of the annual to anyone who is fool enough to want it. Her job with Mr. Halverson she wills Gayle Hastings because Gayle thinks she wants it. Jim Lantz wills his football letter to Melvin Venetz, and his scooter to George Baker so he won't have to ride on Jerry's shoulders. Vance Clinger wills his old '36 Ford Pick-up to Randy Parsons, the old-car-boy. Jay Vee Carson wills his good looks to George Baker. His Position at Tommy Jones' he reserves, just in case. Gary Bergum wills his short hair to Jerry Parson, and his attitude toward school to everyone who goes for a good time. Julia Ferguson wills her giggling ways to Elda Paulson and Barbara Von Stein and her seriousness to Vickey Baker. Barbara Tolman wills her shy reserve to all the Characters of CHS and her ability to snap gum to her sister, Betty. Jim Waddell leaves his A's in homeroom to Danny Mortag, and his ability to stay out of ?? to Bud Peterson. John Lindseth wills his good reputation to Bill Eastman and his captain star to Buster Drummond. Barbara Maxwell wills her quietness to Carol Maxwell, and her attitude toward school to anyone who likes it. Maryann Hocevar wills her ability to get along with teachers to Bozo Weggeland, and her books to her brother and sister, Paul and Pauline. Rick Wright wills his high office in Tommy Jones' Club to Richard Boude and his ability to do nothing to anyone who is as lazy as he. Don Dedman leaves a little of his ability to get along with the teachers to each and every student in CHS and his typing ability to all future mathematicians. Bill Flechsenhar wills his shoes to his sister Connie because she is the only one who could wear them, and his chemistry grades to anyone who doesn't care about getting on the honor roll. To Mr. Prestbo we leave a Senior Class that will be easier to get along with, perhaps. To the Teachers we leave the peace and quiet our departure brings. To the Juniors we leave the grand title of Mighty Seniors. To the Sophomores we leave our reputation of the greatest, sweetest, kindest, quietest, nicest, politest kids ever to be in CHS. To the Freshmen we leave the possibility of a small class because in order to get anywhere in CHS you need it. Injuries that knocked Bruce Boynton for half the season and hampered John Lindseth and Bill Flechsenhar for the last few games cut down on the squad's efficiency. Highlight of the season was the 34-19 trouncing of the Centerville Miners in the Annual Homecoming fray. Seniors Bill Flechsenhar and John Lindseth were elected co-captains at the end of the season and will be sorely missed next year as will Jim Waddell and Jim Lantz. CASCADE BADGERS The Cascade Badger basketball squad under the tutelage of Bemie Bonamie, had a good season capped by a stirring tournament performance. The Badgers, after a 7-13 season record, pulled two upsets to go into the finals of the district tournament for the first time since 1955. The Dutton Cardinals edged the Cascade quint for the championship, and then the Power Pirates successfully challenged the Badgers for the right to advance to the divisional tournament. Captain Bill Flechsenhar, Gary Bergum, George Clinger and Jim Waddell have been lost by graduation but Bruce Boynton and Walt Warehime should join the nucleus of a good club again in 1962-63. Flechsenhar and Boynton were the leading scorers and Flechsenhar also led in rebounds. Boynton won the free throw award. SEASON RECORD 43 . • • Highwood • • • 71 . . . Centerville 59 55 . . . Gt.
