We, thy humble Carverlites, Ask Thy guidance day and night. Help us Lord in every way To excel in our work and play. CARVER CHANT CARVER CREED To develop in myself an appreciation for the finer things of life. To acquire self control and self reliance. To cooperate with others in student activities for the welfare of the school and To be loyal to my school and give her my strongest CARVER HYMN O Carver High, we praise thy name Praise thee for thy greater claim; Honor, courage, precepts of love. Lift your head to God above; Give us thanks, O Lord, we pray. Lead us on from day to day. We’ll always love you. Carver High You are our guiding light. Although the school days swiftly pass. In our hearts you’ll always last; First to us in our work and play. Then guide us through our future ways. You’ll be a light still guiding us. From o’er the hill throughout the years. Bless you and keep you Carver Dear, To you we’ll be sincere. CONTENTS O' AFTER HOURS Have you ever wondered what Tigers do after the last bell rings? The annual staff found them at work with jobs and other things. Out at the mall, you can find Tim Mercer at “Does Your Lover Know?’’. It says that his love is clammy. Is this fact really so? Who is the girl sitting at the piano trying so hard to play? It’s Laura Langley playing her music. She may even learn how one day. If you want to see someone working on a car. just look for Ben Brown. You can tell he loves his car. because he drives it all around. Something that is really catching on is the sport of golf. Here we see John Shroyer caddying and Ed Phillips teeing off. Greg Koch works at Chick-Fll-A. His time is too precious to waste. Though he may be in a hurry, he’ll fix your order to taste. Robin Crosby and Treva Calloway are hanging clothes on the line. Even though it may be work, they manage to have a good time. We saw Earl Woodard taking groceries to a car. He’s working very hard to be a United Super-Star. You can find many Tigers hanging out in the mall, but people like Bill Phillips and Newman Brown had rather do nothing at all. In front of the door on their way home, we found Carlos Grant and Kim Jakes. Tigers are always on the go. and that's because we have what It takes. Who is that in the fancy outfit? It's got to be Karen Hall. She twirls her flag around in the air as If It were nothing at all. So no matter what Tigers are doing whether working or having fun. we always stand out in a crowd, and we’re al- ways number one. 13 What Is a friend? A friend Is someone who dou- bles your joy and cuts your sorrows in half. A friend Is someone who walks in when the world walks out. Whatever the word ‘Friend’ means to you. you are sure to find It within the friends at Carver. The Tlgonian Staff searched for Just a few special friends with these qualities. These are who we found: Tammy Culpepper and Glen- da Quick. Kim Williams and Sherry Johnson. Yolanda Anderson and Bridget! Stewart. Wen- dell Crittenden and Darryl Shipman. Lisa Cobb and Dana Daugherty. Tina Foley and Glenda Murphy. Robert Rusnak and Steve Parciasepe. Marcl Holland and Susan Koch. Terry White, Earl Camp. Kuryakle Holley, and Charlie Harp- er. Doug Roberts and Jimmy Long. Robin Mosley and Patti Bass. Mike Forte. Rodney Wright. Cur- tis Jackson, and Chester Jones. HARRY L. VERNON, PRINCIPAL An opportunity to look through this year’s Annual and remember all the wonderful experiences we (students, teachers, administrators and parents) have shared gives me an exuberant feeling. We have enjoyed every minute of It. Thanks to our annual staff. Mrs. Reynolds and other members of the faculty for your efforts and contributions in making this year’s Annual one of the best. May the Carver Spirit remain with all of you throughout your lives. May your life be filled with all the good things: good health, long life, happiness, prosper- ity. and belief In God. Thanks to all of you. students, teachers, administrators and parents for mak- ing my life a little more meaningful, just by being at Carver High. SENIOR SALUTE Penetration Determines Victo- ry The Carver Tigers defeated Ken- drick Cherokees in a game of penetra- tion, Saturday, September 3, 1983 at Kinnett Stadium. The Tigers won by a score of 1 to 0 to improve their record to 1-1. The winner was determined by the one who came closest to the goal line. Carver’s offense moved the ball to the 17 yard line while the defense held Kendrick to only the 48 yard line. This game, between Carver and Kendrick, definitely gave a new mean- ing to the words “defense, defense.' It was truly a game of defensive strug- gles.
