Senior Class History As we, the class of '64, entered the doors of Carver School, August 26, 1960, we never knew so many blissful memories were in store for us. As seniors, we now take the opportunity to review the past four years. The 143 of us accustomed ourselves to all the dignity a freshman could possibly have in spite of the rigid treatment from the upperclassmen. We elected officers, excelled in our studies and participated in extracurricular activities. All too soon the close of the year drew near, and we began to reminisce over the many events and activities we had enjoyed so much. Finally, it was time to close the book in the first chapter of our four years at Dear Ole Carver. After vacation, we were on the scene at Carver again. We were happy to be back but sad that many of our old friends were not. We worked even more diligently this year, and as a reward for our efforts our Varsity Basketball Team won the District Tournament Title. Much wiser from our new experiences and our new ventures, we returned in August of '62, as sophisticated Juniors. Like Juniors around the world, we eagerly anticipated the biggest social event of the year, the Junior-Senior Prom. We have now traveled the rocky road of three years of high school and our book is about to close once more. But as it closes we are fullfilling our desires of becoming the dignified seniors we have yearned to become for so long. At long last, our Senior year has arrived! An aura of dignity engulfed us as we realized that we were on the threshold of an advancing society. We keep steering our course straight to achieve our goal and prize of the mark of our calling. In the organizing of ourselves we elected Marvin Johnson as our captain and Billy Barnes as his capable and willing assistant. Opportunity availed itself so that many students joined the following extracurricular activi- ties: Band, and Glee Club, Math, Art, French, Library, and Science Clubs. In March we had the annual Unveiling of our Senior Class Motto entitled, There Is No Victory Without Labor. Our class colors are Blue and Gold and our flower is the Yellow Carna- tion. Also in March our Senior Class Play was given. Henpecked Henry provided many laughs for an enthusiastic audience. We are fullpledged seniors. Though our journey was long and treacherous, we scaled the mountains until we reached its highest peak. The D -I -P -L -O -M -A . Jean Jenkins, Historian
