Having passed triumphantly through the Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Seas, we entered very proud ly the sea of Seniority. Mrs. Clark, Mr. Clark, and Mr. Creech, steered us through the final and long awaited destination. We were also guided by our officers which included Thomas Elliott, president; Joseph Moore, vice president; Clara Grady, secretary; Elizabeth Smith, treasurer; and Corine Musgrave and Hilda Raynor, reporters. Carrie Roberts and Elizabeth Smith, two of our sailors, were formally introduced to society at the Cinderella Ball. Also, our crew docked at Durham, North Carolina for a brief tour of North Carolina College. Having endured the many trials and hardships which faced us, we were finally rewarded for having made our four voyages at our Graduation Exercises. President: Thomas Elliott, Vice Pres.: Joseph Moore, Secretary: Clara Grady, Treasurer: Elizabeth Smith, Reporters: Hilda Raynor, and Corine Musgrave, Parliamentarian: Margaret Oates. Motto: Out of The Harbor Into The Sea On a moderate day in September, 1959, a ship docked at the harbors of Carver High School. Aboard this ship were about one hundred thirty-two sailors. Mrs. Fox, Miss Malloy, Miss Edwards, and Mr. Clark were appointed as captains of our ship. They clearly and carefully explained to us the many trials and tribulations that were waiting to face us on the four seas. As we entered the first sea, Freshman, we immediately organized our crew and began to work. Many of our sailors ventured into various activities and courses. Some of our sailors were highly honored and given special awards for the outstanding tasks which they performed. Among the honored were: Clara Grady, Corine Musgrave, Patricia Kornegay, Joseph Moore, Margaret Oates, Annette Barfield, Betty Taylor, Curtis Lofton, Gladys Battle, Thomas Elliott, and many, many others. As we continued our sail, many sailors found it impossible to journey on with us, and docked at the nearest shore. Before tackling our second sea, Sophomore, we docked for a brief rest, and our sailors had decreased to one hundred ten. We were patiently and courageously guided through our second voyage by Miss Ed- wards, Mrs. Washington, Miss Mouring, and Mr. Hickerson. All of the sailors were very excited and eagerly looked forward to the third voyage, Junior. However, as before, some of our sailors were lost. In September 1961, we set out on our third voyage with much excitement and anticipation. We speedily organized our crew and were directed under the leadership of Tony Forbes, president; Clara Grady, vice president; Hilda Raynor, secretary; and Joseph Moore, treasurer. These members were such outstanding sailors that they received special honor, by being inducted into the National Honor Society: Annette Barfield, Corine Musgrave, Clara Grady, Gladys Battle, Patricia Kornegay, Thomas Elliott, Joseph Moore, and Curtis Lofton. Our ship was rapidly approaching The Oriental Gardens. Upon our arrival we docked for an evening of fun, relaxation, and enjoyment. The seniors and faculty were invited to share in this evening of enchantment. 12
