GESJ jlcsfory On a sunny day tn September of the year 1951 A D a group of exerted gtrls and boys gathered tn the Carver Audttortum to ftnd out where to begtn Thts group conststed of students from Dudley and Carver Elementary schools They were babtes taktng then fxrst steps on a rugged road As a baby learns to walk by the tual and error method so d1d we Our expertences were vaned and our acuvttxes numerous We learned that we had to work hard rf we wanted to be successful Durtng our freshman year we were represented 1Il such school actxvrues as the Band the Glee Club Basketball the Lrbrary Club Dramattcs the Scrence Club N H A, H F A the 4 H Club the Student Council the Ht Y Club and the Publtc Speaktng Club The rugged road led us to the tenth grade and more dtffxcult work Some of us dectded that Algebra was a subject destgned for a gentus On a gayer stde of thtngs two of our gtrls became royalty when Emma Martrn was named MISS Communtty Center and Annette Fa1son was crowned Queen of the Harvest Ball Membershrp tn orgamzattons drd not satrsfy us we became very actxve and were honored w1th responsrble pos1t1ons wrth added presuge Our Jumor year ushered tn many excttable events Anece Fa1son was elected Vxce Presrdent of the North Carolma Press Assoctatton Frederlck Smrth and Robert Thompson won honors Wlth therr beauttful tenor votces Anece Fa1son Annette Fatson and Margaret Wynn were elected mto the Nattonal Honor Soctety Emma Martm and Geneva Greenfteld rergned Jotntly at the May Day Festrvmes The crowmtng event of the year was the JUHIOIWSCHIOI Prom our frrst formal affarr w1th the Seniors as our guests After workmg hard for three years wtth the road becomtng more rugged wxth the passing ttme we ftnally became SENIORS Thts year we were not only represented tn vartous orgamzauons of the school but we held hrgh POSIIIOHS tn most of them tncludmg the Student Council The Edttor m Chref of the Carver Ttps was also a member of our class Emma Marttn won the county essay contest on Electrtcrty spon ored by the 4 H Club Annette Fa1son and Donald Powell attended the Debutante Ball mn Ralergh Burme Lane and Robert Thompson entered the talented program at the county fatr w1th Robert Thompson takrng second place tn the solo drvtston .
