IN MEMORY OF MR. CARL ROOSEVELT MARTIN, JR. Carver High School has lost a scholar, friend, advisor and a great administrator. There is no other way of describing our beloved principal because he was devoted to the furthering of our education. Mr. Martin taught at various schools in Forsyth County as both a teacher and principal. In 1950, he became assistant principal at Carver Consolidated School and served until 1953 when he was appointed principal. His work at Carver achieved for him a high status in operation of union schools. He was a consultant in that field at a number of summer institutes. To the students of Carver High School Mr. Martin endowed his profound enthusiasm. As a principal he was demanding. But somehow you didn’t really mind working for him. You always knew that no matter how hard you worked to improve our school, he worked that much harder to become a more dedicated and effective principal. Although he was a principal, Mr. Martin never stopped being a teacher and a student. He was always searching, studying, and striving for improvement and knowledge. Yes, we at Carver High School have lost a scholar, friend, advisor and a great administrator. “As man may say he fought his fight, proved his truth by his endeavor.” — Boker w I 15

We wish to manifest our love, appreciation, and sincerity for the ceaseless efforts you have shown in our behalf. You have been understanding and always willing to help when we were in need. In appreciation of these reasons the class of 1966 dedicates its yearbook to our advisors — Mrs. Ruth Halsey, Mr. Charles Greene, and Mr. D. L. Lash.
