Our class was now fifty nine strong, Our homeroom teacher was Mr, Willie Williams, Overcrowded conditions forced us into the basement of the St, James Church . Since our homeroom was filled to its capacity, the class took many responsibilities upon themselves that they knew would be overlooked by the teacher. Our class was known as the most Outstanding one ever to enter Carver, because we tried to take advantage of our homeroom teacher, Now that we had reached the ninth grade, we were per - mitted to participate in extra - curricular activities, Some of HI - LITE these were baseball and touch - football, We did not part - icipate in basketball because we did not have the necessary facilities. Because we had a desire to engage in activities other than baseball and football, we longed for a new school which would provide the things necessary. When we received the news that a modern high school was being erected for us , we immediately wanted to see lt. During the early spring we came down to see the school in its early stages. lt was the subjectfor many snapshots, We were glad when vacation time came because we knew we would be entering the school of our dreams in the fall, As we bid our classmates goodbye, we were sure all would return nextfall, if only to attend classes in a modern building, Janet on the bases At the County Track Meet A new era 'sv' P-v,x,.
