3 Athletic I-listory ' THLETICS play a large part in the lite ot Carver School. We believe that participation is not only healthtul and invigorating but also develops cooperation and a sense ot tair play. True sportsmanship-a combination ot tair play and courtesy-is stressed in all activities at Carver. The Senior Class ot I95O hopes that the same skill and sportsmanship that have been characteristic ot our teams in the past will be carried on by our teams ot tomorrow. The Senior Class is proud that the basketball teams ot I949-50 included a number ot seniors. Seniors on the girls' team are Reba Terry, Martha Vineyard. Bettie Anderson. Elsie Terry, Evelyn Simmons. Mattie Wiley and Clara Anderson. Senior boys are Joseph Curtis, Russell Smith, Lewey I-Iale, Homza Hale, Francis Banlcs and William Gravely. In addition. the captain ot the girls' team. Reba Terry, is a senior and both captains ot the boys' team are seniors. The Senior Class teels that this is an excellent record. ff X ' ga I f SCORES Boys We They Girls We They 'Salem Athletic Club 36 34 'Addison ... ,.. 42 48 Addison .......... 37 38 'Addison ., ...
