However, some ol us spenT The Time proTiTably, Tor during ThaT year several ol us made The honor roll and mosT ol us passed To The ninTh grade. When we reTurned To school in I946 our Tormer Teachers greeled us wiTh hopes ThaT we were going To be quieTer, more sTudious boys and girls. Our home- room Teachers were Mrs. Frances Harrison and Mrs. Williams. As we Tormed our cliques, our discovery ThaT many members of our ranks had noT reTurned To school dampened our spirils somewhaT-lor we had been so proud of being The largesT class in The school! This year we became baskelball conscious. MosT ol us were overshadowed by The older members ol The Teams. buT Those of us who made The squads Tried hard To be ouTsTanding whenever we were given a chance. ln addiTion To our being Tull- Tledged members oT The school squads, we were Thrilled when boTh our boys' and girls' Teams won The inlramural championship ThaT year. Now class pride began To exhibiT iTselT: we became aware of The necessiTy To sTick TogeTher, work hard, and prepare Tor our iunior and senior years. During The school year, I947-48, our homeroom Teachers were Mrs. Flossie WesT and Mrs. Gladys Saunders. By This Time our membership had dwindled, buT we were sTill The largesT class in The school. We worked -hard and played hard This year. Our baskeTball players were recognized as good players, we parTicipaTed in every acTiviTy ol The school, and in general we had grown up a bil. When we relurned To school in Seplember I948, we meT in Room 205 where our Co-sponsors, Mrs. Cooke and Mr. Price. divided us inTo Two secTions. However, no longer were we To have separaTe homeroom periods and class business was To be handled by one seT ol olficers. This was our lousiesT year.
