DEDICATION The 1955 Echo is respectfully dedicated to Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Grier, out- standing citizens of Charlotte. Mr. Grier is a native of Mecklenburg County where his influence has been powerfully exerted in many directions. Mr. and Mrs. Grier are known to many of us as great community organizers and devout christians. Mr. Grier is an enduring pioneer, a sincere philanthropist, a de- voted husband andfather, a loyal and cooperative home maker and above all he is one of the most prominent business men in the city of Charlotte. For a number of years he very successfully operated a retail grocery store on the Monroe road. In 193 1 he organized the Grier i Thompson Funeral Home. At present he is rendering a service to his people as Funeral Director. His wife Mrs. Irma White Grier, the daughter of the late Mr. Green and Rhodie White is greatly responsible for much of her husband ' s success. She is a loyal and devoted wife. She is at present busy aiding Mr. Grier in the development of Grier Heights just off of Monroe road.
