GREETINGS FROM THE DIRECTOR Edward H. Brown Director Since Carver College is a community junior college, it is free to explore and determine its own educational objectives. Because itis a work- ing part of the community where students live, it is in a favorable position to study the educational needs of the community. We look upon the whole community as our student body, and we are at- tempting to provide education at varying points of need in the life of each individual. It is a pleasure for us to bring to the attention oi our students the life of an individual like Mr. Arthur S.Grier who has worked, and is working, to make Charlotte a better place in which to live. His excellence and accomplishments, in all aspects of community growth and willingness to serve beyond the call of duty, should serve as an inspi- ration to those who plan to lead good and useful lives in this community. The time has come for many of you to leave Carver and build a new life elsewhere. For some of you this will meanmatriculation in some Senior College for professional training; for others, it will be an introduction to the world of work and responsibility. In either case, I hope that you will bring to your new life an understanding of the fact that your education is still unfinished and that you must go on studying and learning about problems, about people and about the Al- mighty God whose own work on earth is yet un- finished and will not be complete until we learn to live together in peace and brotherhood. You are the fruit of this particular tree on earth. By your deeds you will carve a fine favor in the eyes of future generations . Always remem- ber to come back often and let us know where you are and what you are doing. Best Wishes ! 2:
